Leather and scratches

Post by Jxwisniewski » Wed Jul 26, 2006 3:11 am

Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. My problem is that I have an a6 and my leather is beautiful, it the vanilla leather but the bad news is that its really easy to get dirty and really hard to keep clean. I tried allot of thing like Meguiar's and things like that but they really dont clean that well, anyone have any other suggestions? SOMETHING THAT CLEANS WELLLLLLLLL PLEASE

The other thing is that I have some minor scratches aswell anyone have any opinions about that?

You really should check some of the earlier threads.
www.liquidleather.com
I'd suggest the waterproofing conditioner if you have heavy use issues.

I ordered my liquid leather after i read the last thread havent used it yet but i have the same problem with my silver nappa, going to give it a go tomorrow as i am waiting on one more bottle, product may be good but service isnt, ordered 3 bottles received 2 and when i phoned the gentleman on the other end was rather rude and used the fact that its to be expected as they have over 100 orders a day and he would send another and put the phone down............nice excuse.

Well the conclusion is its no better than any other top end brand like Autoglym for cleaning, still does a fairly good job but dont think it will bring any leather back to new condition dont think any product can do that, but it does leave a fantastic leather smell the best i have come across its got to be worth a go just for that. Dont expect miracles it wont get out those marks that form in the creases even after brushing with a toothbrush, if your seats arent that noticeably dirty your not gonna see the difference a damp cloth would do just as well. After applying the preserver like i said you get a lovely smell in the car of new leather but the seats dont really look any different to before you started but this is only my opinion and it was on silver nappa which is probably the worst leather i have ever had.

Liquid Leather is as good as it gets for leather restoration - cheap as chips, easy to use and as has been pointed out gives a lovely leather aroma.

It will clean even the dirtiest leather IF used properly...I won't use anything else, even the wickedly expensive potions and lotions fron Swissol etc.
I've got a handout on how to use the stuff properly to achieve the best results (well, it's how I use it!) Don't look at it as a "wipe on, wipe off and drive away product" ideally you need to let it do its work over a 6-8 hr period.

LL's Scuffmaster product is excellent use to permanently to repair scuffs and scrapes to your leather - doddle to use and dirt cheap.

www.partsforsaabs.com ( > care car > leather care > gliptone cleaner and conditioner) is a cheaper source for genuine LL....Polite service too!

Ive got the liquid leather conditioner and cleaner, the smell is beautiful, and does work well with leather thats not too far gone, small areas on my back seat has cracked and is literally hard to the touch (dont know how, previous owner must of left it in sunlight for months)
ive left it soaking in for a few hours then buff off, then do some more, probably 4/5 coats, it seems to be getting softer just not sure how much it should take.

Tried something today that i had read somewhere else on the forum, hot towels. First i used the liquid leather cleaner and left it on for five minutes whilst i soaked a tea towel then heated it up for 3-4 mins in a microwave then lay it across the seats and wipe, great results really lifted the previously hard to remove dirt.Give it a good liberal amount of L L conditioner and im gonna leave that on untill morning to really get absorbed then a gentle wipe over. Hot towels its the future.

leather care

Post by charlesraz » Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:11 pm

hi everyone,

for leather care, i first hoover the seats carefully with a soft brush adapter and as surgested b4, a soft paint brush (new) with the metal crimping wraped in insulation tape to protect from scratches. Brush gentle on the seat seams to remove any collected grime. I then use saddle soap which is a product used for the care of leather bridles and saddles used for horse riding. I use a damp Autoglm synthetic chamois rubed in saddle soap, gentle apply in a rotating motion. The soap is neutral in colour and smell, the trick being only to dampen the chamois.

soz 4 the crap spelling.

many thanks charles

i used liquid leather yesterday for the first time as the bolsters were looking a bit shiny and dry.

Well its restored the smell that much is for sure ! i,m not sure if i have put too much on but it was really hot when i put the stuff on and it went straight in plenty of rubbing with a cloth to make sure it went into the grain and i just left it sat there in the sun all afternoon, went back out about 8 o clock when everything had cooled down and used the same dampened cloth to wipe over the area ! what a result ! all the hair line wear marks on the bolster are filled and replenished and you can see this stuff doing its thing as you apply it, hopefully this will keep the condition of the interior looking feeling and smelling great.

I,ve not used any other leather care treatments so i cant compare it to anything ! all i know is this stuff works for me and i,ll be sticking some more on if this heat keeps on beating down.
