Wheel repairs (RS6)
Wheel repairs (RS6)
I have recently curbed 2 wheels on my RS6 the dealer has told me that most Audi wheels are now powder coated not painted and now cant be repaired as before as i know they will get damaged again I refuse to spend £900 on two new wheels
There is a rumour that there is a paint that can be used Audi have not denied this but the dealer can not get the code, Audi just want to sell new wheels
If you guys have any info it would be apreciated

The wheels are not powder coated, however i have now heard that Pristine can now match the paint on RS wheels, haven't got their number unfortunately although they are based in Milton Keynes
Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
There are now a few companies who can match theS4 9 spokeaint, but I would say pristine are a trusted company, however the 5 spoke RS6 rims are just standard paint finish
Which ones do you have?
Also I am sure there are cheaper sources for OEM rims than Audi themselves!!!!

Steve...the finish on both the 9 spoke and 5 spoke RS6 wheels is exactly the samehowever the 5 spoke RS6 rims are just standard paint finish
Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
i disagree
i have had a set of the 5 spokes, although i sold them on and hey were the same finish as say the S4 rims, not the RS4 rims
Therefore can be refurbished

Steve...........maybe the set you had was allready refurbished i can tell you that the last three digits of all the RS wheels part numbers is 1H7 where as the last three digits of the S4 wheels is Z17 which is a different finishi disagree

Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
Most of the Audis I've looked at including my S4 alloys are simply painted.
It's simply a matter of getting the correct colour code. If you can't get the number from Audi. Then any bodyshop with paint mixing facilities can match just about any colour. Just as B&Q etc are offering the same service for house emulsion!
Simply take it along to ANY reputable bodyshop and ask them to match and mix the colour. In fact most motor factors will match and mix the paint for you. It doesn't have to be anywhere near as accurately matched and mixed as would be required for a body work blow-in. PARTCO, Brown Brothers, Edmond Walkers these all offer paint matching and mixing facilities. You just have to find someone to spray it on for you.
Having said all that your best going to the wheel refurb guys to have the work done. If your not confident they will get the colour right, get the paint yourself and take it to them for spraying on. Provided of course they are happy to do that.

Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
Anyone care to give a ballpark figure for wheel repair? I must drive like a complete pleb, as I've got four needing varying degrees of attention.
Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
Around about 50-60 per rim, more you have done the cheaper it is per corner.

Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
I have just had a letter from customer services regarding the painting of RS6 wheels
I wrote to complain that my dealer cannot get the paint code for these wheels as they were told it was not availabe
The official line from Audi Customer services is that it isnt a case of will not release the paint code but that Audi AG cannot give the code (I think it must be like coke a secret)
Great customer care they must expect us to buy new ones at £450.00 each

Thanks, will perhaps have them done once I've got a complete 3 month run without dinging at least one of them... Around about 50-60 per rim, more you have done the cheaper it is per corner.
Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
Have you tried 'Wicked Wheels. - http://www.wicked-wheels.co.uk/
They did a first class job on my AMG alloys at £45 per wheel- I've curbed my RS6 several times (mainly turning on the ramps in car parks!!)and am about to call them again.
Highly recommended.

Re: Wheel repairs (RS6)
I know this was a few years ago but can anyone recommend a mobile repair place in York? I could use wicked wheels but they're a franchise aren't they? I assume it's like chips away where it really is pot luck whether you get a good individual or not.
Cheers.
Cheers.
