Wash Mitt Review (Auto Express 15-21 Nov '06)

Post by david7m » Sun Jan 28, 2007 10:56 pm

This thread reminded me of the above.

I haven't a scanner and can't be bothered to type the whole article out, so here it is in summary form :wink:

The test (there words)

We assessed our samples both dry and wet on a car that had been in storage for several years. Our test rated grime removal and the effort needed, and we took into consideration any damage to the paintwork.

Stains such as tar, bird lime and brake dust were tackled. The mitts were also weighed wet and dry to rate water absorbency. Marks were added for comfort, grip, whether the mitt is machine washbale and value.

The contenders/results

* Kent 2 in 1 wash mitt, £3.99, 5 stars (Best Buy)
* Halfords Cotton wash mitt, £3.49, 3 stars
* Halfords Genuine Sheepskin mitt, £7.99, 2 stars
* Kent Ladies wash mitt, £1.49, 4 stars
* Meguiars Super Thick Microfibre wash mitt, £9.95, 3 stars
* Mequiars Lambswool wash mitt, £9.95, 3 stars
* Metro Microfibre Cleaning mitt, £3.99, 4 stars (Recommended)
* Kent sponge mitt, £1.49, 3 stars

Verdict (there words)

The best buy for Kents 2 in 1 was well deserved. The mitt is highly absorbent, its microfibre simply loves the dirt and grime, and theres even a guaze scrub pad on the rear - a brilliant package for less than four quid.

A close second is Metro's microfibre offering, which is equally as easy on the wallet. Its a better fit, but no scrub pad was included, and there wasn't much absorbency.

Love or hate the colour, Kents Ladies mitt works aswell as our winner, and is a smaller option.

I bought the Kent 2 in 1 wash Mitt for £3.99 and I'm well pleased with it.
