For bobjebb...just about sufficient for a "long car"!

For DuncS3...my enquiry was loosely based on a commercial valeting venture. However, their emphasis was that I was not allowed to use a hose connected to the domestic water main. Text of reply below and I'd point out is the response form Thames Valley Water ONLY. Other water supply agencies may take a differing view.

<<Thank you for your e-mail of 10 May 2006.

Current legislation, underlined in the Section 76 of the Water Industry Act
1991, prohibits the use of a
hosepipe to water private gardens or wash private vehicles.

As your pressure washer will not be connected to the mains supply, and the
water will be supplied
from a static container you will not be in breech of any bye laws.
However, only short lengths of
hosepipe, approximately 3-4 feet in length, may be used in order to fill
any static containers, including
buckets and watering cans.

I hope this information is helpful.>>

I've heard of "private" users being given a similar response.

Nice one Dave, but the world has gone mad!!!

Years of under-investment in the network by privatised authorities creaming off profits rather than sorting out problems, and now they meter us and charge more then ban hoses for cleaning cars, but ok to wash a few hundred quids worth of concrete!!!
