Wheel re-furb

Post by SimonS4MTM » Mon Mar 20, 2006 12:15 pm

So I have decided to keep my original wheels, partly due to funds but also because I don’t want to spoil the look of the car.

One wheel is badly in need of a re-furb due to corrosion, paint bubbling. I have decided to have a go myself at re-furbing it, if it all goes wrong I will just get it done professionally.

So here are my questions,

Any particular kind of paint?

Should I lacquer it afterwards.

What colour will match the original?

Any help appreciated.

have a look at the audi world website. there are some tips there on refurbing your wheels yourself. you can purchase the paint from wurth uk. i have brought some from them but have not got round to using it. it was roughly around £24.00 ( two cans, one of silver and one of laquer) incl of del.
the part nos are as follows : wheel silver 0893 351 900, laquer 0893 351 930.

Simon, I can't comment on your funds, but IMO refurbing wheels is a false economy.
