Guys you are missing the point. I know for a fact that some manufactuers GIVE cars to the police to test, as they do unberliverbl milage and cover all aspects of driveing daily ! Thats where some of the call backs come from and where else would landrover be able to get a car on real time test 24hurs a day, the cover HUGH milage etc its a good idea if you ask me !
If they get them free or heavily discounted I can live with that! If any manufacturer wants to give me a £60K car to drive to destruction I am only to happy to oblige. But I am just not convinced Lexus would give Humberside police one for free. Why not the Police in Japan or at least in a big city where there will be more potential customers who might think I like that and want to buy one, the fact Hull Lexus have only sold one kind of proves my point I think.
they dont do it to get more sales !!!!
The old bill in germang get lambos as does italy !
No they dont get Lambos! The Ialian Police Lambo is nothing more than a publicity stunt and not in actual service. Not sure about Germany I think they do have the odd BMW M and 911 for the autobahns. But surely the ulitmate aim of any discount for the police is increased sales, in the end at least! One would hope that Lexus does not release a car to the public and then let the police carry out the development, that sort of thing is normally done before release in Finland, the Desert and the Nurburgring, not on the M180 near Scunthorpe!
