Remap - Insurance
Remap - Insurance
Any RS6 or + owners managed to get their remaps (significantly less than 15% increase in my case) accepted by the long-trunked animal or their parent company, that nautical chap?
RE: Remap - Insurance
They were fine when I added my Milltek, but told me there and then that they wouldn't cover me if I followed up with a remap - they're obviously very strict on this one...

RE: Remap - Insurance
Insuring cars in the past with mods,
Exhaust cat back was fine, no extra charge.
Induction kit was fine, no extra charge.
Exhaust and induction kit increased the premium.
Exhaust including sports cats increased the premium.
Remap always an increase on the premium.
Elephant and Admiral should cover you but you may have to look at renewing your premium for another 12 months.
IIRC the insurance company contact the underwriter for the insurance and see if they cover modifications. As the underwriters can change depending who was cheapest to cover you at the time, there is no certainty whether they will or not.
Thats why the premium renews for 12 months, taking a financial hit with it at the time to find an underwriter who will cover you for the modifications.
Can be expensive and tempting not to declare, but even more expensive if the car needs a payout and they find an excuse not to!
