Fuel consumption

Post by DAylward » Wed Feb 03, 2010 12:01 pm

This has probably been covered before so I apologise in advance but what sort of mpg are you getting on average? as I am looking at getting into an RS4 in the near future and just wondered if its any better than my current Impreza Spec C which has a 50ltr tank and averages 22 mpg on a normal run at sensible driving speeds

just curious to know

Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I do find it funny that we all put up with a truly awful MPG just for our cars!

Generally they are all 4.2L monsters or have turbos the size of a dustbin lids (or both!), which drink fuel like it going out of fashion. Surely only a Hummer towing an aircraft carrier would be worse!

If we were on Diesel super-mini comparison forum, they would all be sharpening their pitch forks.

I can safely say that fuel consumption was not my biggest concern when looking at a S/RS car. But that is the price we all pay for being Petrolheads. :drink: :kissmyrings:

I was filling up at a Petrol station today and a guy in a new TT came in behind me, filled his tank, paid and came back out again all before I had finnished.
He came over and said 'bl**dy hell petrol tanker or what' then took a double look at the pump screen and couldn't believe I had just pumped £84 worth of V-power into the money pit.
11.5mpg on average..........................................

Is it actually important though?
Keep seeing posts about fuel consumption on S and RS cars of future/potential owners. Can the Mods not make a sticky?!

Same questions, same answers...

If you're worried about mpg, don't buy a performance car, buy a GTI or TDI...

Listen Mr Unhelpful,I was asking for an idea so I could compare it to what I am driving at the moment (which is a lot quicker but less refined) I have had performance cars all my life,if you don't like new members asking questions then either don't read them or troll somewhere else

Sorry, I don't mean to come across unhelpful, but this question does get asked alot, and a simple search will throw up hundreds (literally) of similar questions some identical...

Wouldn't say your current car is quicker either. Some of the cars on here are modded quite alot. On SRS more than here there are a number of 700bhp cars being done currently.

You could help by using the search function. That's why it's there. If you try searching and can't find the answer then fair enough. I'd be the first the admit to posting questions to find answers, but I do try and find the answer myself first. I simply dont believe you tried.

Simple as...
