insurance recommendations RS4

Post by timk » Fri Jan 29, 2010 10:18 pm

Contemplating a few different B5 RS4s at the moment and it's about time I got an insurance quote. Looking for limited mileage policy, someone who accepts modified cars (might go for a stansdard one but want the option of modding it later) and possible track day cover. Anyone got any recommendations?

Also just realised that my NCB is applied to my C43 which I'll be keeping..
No NCB on a modified RS4 =
Anyone know a good multicar policy or a way around this if you own more than one high performance car?!?

most companies will mirror ncb if you have it on another policy. They wont protect it though

I found both Chris Knott and Sky insurance were competitive on my modified RS4

Admiral won't cover like for like on mods. They take the money for your mods but if you claim, they'll only replace with OEM

That doesn't surprise me. I suppose it depends on your mods and the chance of them getting damaged in a crash ie remap etc. If the car is stolen you are knackered though. A lot of companies don't seem to actually want to replace like for like so why charge extra if you won't supply the modded parts.

I found Gary Moulson @ Keith Michaels (insures my RA) to be very competetive. I pay £480 for the RS4 and £430 for the RA

Just insured the S4 yesterday.

Car has ABT alloys, Brembo big brake upgrade and (the killer) full Millteks. Current insurer (Privilege) hiked up the premium by£250 due to the exhaust.
Audi were the cheapest until I added the Millteks. Took the price from £379 to....[deep breathe] £4000.

Best price was Aviva (believe it or not) which came in at £411 including all modifications and breakdown cover.

I was with Privilege initially as they allowed me to use my 19 years NCB on both the Audi and Nissan GTR stipulating that I couldn't protect either policy - no great shakes. Might be worth a call if you plan to use your no claims on more than one vehicle.

Hope this helps,

Grahame

Adrian Flux, Greenlight & Keith Michaels couldn't match Admiral's renewal quote of £535 for me.

Most were about £850, although they did cover the cost of the modifications.

Aviva wouldn't quote as they don't cover remapped cars (but they cover every other mod???).

Just in the process of trying www.peterbestinsurance.co.uk - they give good discounts for IAM/RoSPA, plus they run a scheme for HPC members that cover track days and other HPC members.

Word of caution on Admiral, they consider Factory fitted extras to be modifications so be sure to tell them absolutely everything thats on your car, they are quick to be difficult about this.
