In process of buying an RS4 - Car history wanted . . .

Hi guys, I'm in the process of buying an 0606 RS4. I asked the dealer for a copy of everything that's every been fitted or done to the car and he said he couldn't provide it. Is there anyone here that can get hold of info if I give them the registration? Someone that works for Audi?
Any help would be great.
Cheers
Phil

Go into an audi dealer and give them the reg or VIN - service department should be confirm if it's been serviced correctly.
Parts department will be able to let you know what options the car had.

I was in the same boat last month - its mainly to do with the fact that you are not the registered keeper - I sweet talked several local dealers before I bought mine (privately) and asked for as much info as possible as i would potentially be an Audi owner using their service dept etc etc... some may tell you more than others, but as long as all the collated info matches - then alls good.. (I actually called several dealers to compare service prices etc etc and enquire about DRC cover - in the same call i reeled off the reg of my car (to be) and asked if I could be cheeky and get some info on that one specifically. - i then knocked it into a small spreadsheet comparing costs per dealer... - speaking of which tax and service is due! DOH
if the car you are looking at is at a dealers - then the above shouldnt count and all info and history should be freely accessible if you were a potential buyer....

I tried this with our RS4 B5... got a few dealers to play ball, BUT its coded so unless you have an Audi Enigma machine it will make absolutely no sense what so ever.
It looks like a paint code, a number ( dealer number) and a number that coresponds to what service the car was given. it doesnt say in laymans terms WHAT WAS DONE, by who and why!! at least you can get a reasonably accurate mileage though

they should be able to tell you of any warranty work history if you turn the charm up to number 11..
a few were more helpful than others (or more knowledgeable!!) and able to translate the coded world that is Audi.
worth picking up the blower tho

A few more questions and I ended up getting all the info I needed. Including confirmation that it's had no DRC issues. Happy therefore given they've just put a complete new set of brakes on it too.
Going to pop back in a few days and pick it up. Can't wait.

Cheers Chew. I'll keep that in mind. I wouldn't be taking the bait from an R32 anyway. It's so much a foregone conclusion who's quicker that it wouldn't be worth burning the gas to prove something we both already knew! It'd been to be 911, F-somethingorother to get me interested. And I doubt Mr Plod has unmarked those!
Are the plod allowed to do that? i.e. try and induce you into a race just to pull you over and book you? Seems a bit underhanded to me!
Might stick to the scenic route through Derbyshire!
