Temperture Gauge

Post by andrewlowe » Tue Apr 21, 2009 6:24 pm

My RS6 on a 52 plate after running for years with the temperture gauge pointing striaght up at 90 degrees has suddenly taken to rising up to the next marker on the gauge and then returning back to 90 degrees. It may stay at the next marker for somtime and then for no apparent reason will return to 90.
The car has also taken to running its fans for a very long time after it has been stopped up to 7 or 8 minutes which seems excessive.
Any ideas, its almost like the impellor on the water pump sometimes spins on the shaft and then starts turning again!
I have never seen any warning lights saying the car has got to hot but worried all the same!
