Hi,

Does anyone know a decent way of repairing the left hinge of the glovebox, managed to snap mine opening it, the damper had siezed. The dealer says it is not covered by the extended warranty as it is considered trim (would under the manufacturers warranty) and wants approx £200 to fix it. Not impressed as I managed to break the glovebox in my B6 S4 just opening it, never had this trouble with my B5 A4.

Thanks...

Pete

Bollocks to your dealer, it is a comon fault with both B6 and B7 glove boxes and they sould know this enough to have one replaced FOC. If not, take it somewhere else.

I should sincerely hope that given it is such a comon fault that soemone would replace it for you even if you are out of warranty.

I had the glove box on my B6 replaced for the hinge to snap on the replacement after 10 days and another glove box fitted.

I agree with the sentiment regarding the dealer but still need the glovebox fixed, like the cars but hate the dealers. Feels like a boxing match that's been rigged everytime I walk into a dealer :(

If you could get one outside of Audi you could fit it yourself pretty easily, there are only 3 or 4 bolts and a cuple of screws holding it in place which I found out when retrofitting bluetoorth a while back.

have been looking on fleabay but not much around as it seems to be a regular occurence. The Audi parts man said 'we've done a lot of those...'

It's SO common.
Just bite the bullet, buy part from Audi and fit it yourself, you'll need lid, damper and if you have a glovebox lock swap barrell over.

You can buy the hinge from Audi and change it yourself. It is very easy and very satisfying...
