INTERNAL SWIMMIMG POOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Hi
After the recent heavy rain , I have up to an inch of water sloshing around the passenger footwell , primarily to the rear , but in the front as well , though generally under the carpet in the front
This did coincide with having a service with all filters being renewed , a week after which , the floods arrived
the car is an RS6 Avant 2003 model , which i have owned and adored for a year now , with no previous problems
Urgent action is needed as electrics are now being effected , no central locking or response to key plip , and dash shows two doors open , though they are not , hazard lights come on intermittently as well
Lifting plastic trims around doors , and having hoses pour water all round doors revealed no obvious leaks through the door seals , but shortly after the hoses , which were played on the windscreen as well as the doors , water levels rose in the rear footwell again ???
Any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks
Philip

Usually this is down to leaves etc clogging the drain plugs in the bulkhead/scuttle area. Not sure about the RS6 but I guess they're basically the same as other models...so you'll need to locate the drain holes and make sure they are clear. the water will then stop coming into the car.

As you found water in the front as well, did you check the drain holes under the pollen filter?

thats what i am hoping is the problem , as the garage changed the pollen filters and should have spotted this , if they were blocked
where do i find the pollen filters and drain holes thereunder ?

It turned out to be the POLLEN FILTER HOUSING. They tend to crack and in doing so, lift the seal from the bulkhead, allowing water to get underneath and straight down into the footwell.
Audi must be well aware of this problem as the part number has changed from number ending in 'A' to now ending in 'C'.
The pollen filter housing is located on the nearside, underneath the windscreen, and is attached to the bulkhead with 3 or 4 bolts/nuts (it was some time ago when I replaced it!)
The housing will cost around £18 from the dealer.
Hope this helps.
It is located under the big black flat pannel at the back of the engine bay (called the plenum chamber cover). Problem could either be a blockage, or a crack from what I have seen.

See pic for plenum cover:

That is what I was going to suggest, the drains choke up and the water lever rises and drains through your heater, the water is channelled down the heater ducting to the front and rear foot wells....
You’ll need to get it sorted ASAP as you’ll have quite a few modules housed under the carpet, each costing a fair amount.

Best of luck!
