Right everyone, im hoping to buy one of the above cars once my house sells shortly. What is everyone's opinion on both the RS4 and RS6, which is better to live with etc? My mate has an RS4 which i've driven and i love it. Currently got an old S2 avant for a winter hack and a TVR Chimaera 500. So loving the big Audi just now.

I've read about most of the problems woth both cars and im swaying towards an RS6. What do you guys reckon? Has anyone gone from an RS4 to RS6 and regreted it?

TIA

I was tempted with a 6, but opted for a 4 in the end - the deciding factor for me was running costs. Discs, pads & tyres don't seem to last long in the 6 and they are mighty expensive, even at vagparts & costco tyres prices. Are you thinking of taking the car on a track - maybe the 4 is a better option here? Also, budget plays a part - the 4 will be a few grand cheaper (as it's older).

As above, RS6 will go through everything quicker, petrol tyres etc. I have an RS4 which i love but its not great for putting 4 people in. This in my opinion is the only reason i'd swap for the the bigger RS6... I'm sure you'll be impressed with either both cult cars, good luck

I had the same problem until I replaced the front seats with recaro shells - now plenty of room in the back!

For me it came down to the type of driving and how lazy I'm getting. I simply couldn't face sitting in London traffic with my foot riding the clutch for hours on end - so the 6 was the clear choice, though I guess I could now go with the new 4.

It also comes down to practicality - currently rebuilding an old barn, so car is regularly loaded to the brim and then driven the 225 miles to site - the 6 is just SO versatile!

Either way I guess it will be a lot more fun than a house!

Excuse my ignorance, what do you mean by recaro shells??
Are these just replacement seats?
Sounds good either way

Geat thread this Paul, will be interested in some of the answers as i cant decide which one to go for either. Wot about tuning/modding both cars which would give you the best for the same amount of money spent on them?? talking about performance mods here :D

An optional extra for the RS4 - the std seats are around 75mm thick, whereas the shells are around 7mm - this translates to extra leg room in the back.

concidering the cost of fuel these days... the RS6 isnt that shy when it comes drinking vast quantites...unless your gifted with a fuel card.

The RS4 isnt far behind....

The RS6 is a bruiser of a car, big, heavy and pretty well specced so because I dont have kids I wouldnt need a car as big as the RS6 but if you want a manual tranny then unless you get it converted at no doubt conciderable cost then then its little brother may be your prefered choice.

EITHER way they are both dam good at lugging things around....and have the performance to match.
