I've used John Bowles VW and Audi in Tunbridge Wells for about 5 years for my 1996 A4 V6 2.6 and A8 4.2. More recently I've used MRC for the S4 and tuning issues but couldn't get in to see Doug this time round so I wen t beack to them with a pretty big list on my high miler s4.
What do you think to this?
New Cambelt and Aux Water Pump and pre-tensioner
Replace OSF Wheel bearing
Recharge air con with refrigerant/oil and leak test
2 x 710N diverter valves
Oil and filter change
Engine temp sensor
Oil Temp sensor
new wipers
Air filter
Only problems were a stubborn bumper hex-bolt ,which they managed to remove without shearing. Wasn't up on the S4 engine so I wouldn't want to burden him with anything on the tuning side - but horses for courses.
He's full Bosch motronic etc accredited and has careful/thoughtful mechanics who seem to work quickly and charge sparingly.
£1,006 inc VAT
I'll top this off by dumping the 0-60w fully synth he put in and going to KwikFit, where they do a Mobil 1 0-40w lube job for £40 inc the filter.

My brother took His UR quattro to John Bowles an he messed it up good and proper. Eventually he found QST and they were brilliant and sorted it out, with a few added extras.

Think I'm probably getting my pumps confused here. Yes - it was the main pump. Was you brother's UR quattro modded and in for anything to do with tuning. As I said - mI recognise that John Bowles is not a tuning shop. It is however quite a cost effective alternative for servicing items.

Not so much tuning but it was something to do with the electrics of the car i think. In the end he was out of pocket by quite a bit before finding QST then finally getting it sorted. having said that the Quattro is a specialist car and a number of garages did not have a clue.

TBH why didn't you get them to put Mobil one in?
And a little pricey..................

Because it needed oil of some description in it and I didn't want to pay decent money for Mobil 1 when I knew I could get it at KF for silly money. You're right though. Probably cutting off my nose to spite my face.
Pricey - I thought I was on to a good thing. But then If I really think about it I'd expect to pay MRC £500 for cambelt £300 for the bearing and another £200 for AC recharge and sundries. Really wish Banbury was in Kent.

Woody, If I'd have known that you could have done this then I wouldn't have hesitated. I need a VAG-COM health check and maybe MAF. You interested? You just have to promise not to make me have KO4's yet. I have a new daughter and am still chaffing a bit from moving house. My car expenses are under very close scrutiny. I probably pass you on the way back to T/Wells from Wimbledon every day.
