Anyone used tyre repair solution and pump to fix a puncture?

Post by neckarsulm » Thu Mar 08, 2007 8:07 pm

..and did it work??
I checked my fluid and it had a best before date of 11/2003 so fat lot of use that would have been!
A bit nervous about no spare wheel so some feedback would be good!
I do have a spare wheel and tyre available that I can make use of but don't want to add the weight if I don't need to.

cheers

Get some "Super Spunk" Holts Tyre Weld - I have used it and swear by it. Make sure you have a friendly tyre fitter though as many will claim that the ture cannot be repaired once you have used the spunk.

Audi advised my brother the other week that the "spunk" method ruins the tyre ....

That'll be £300 for a new tyre..... Of course people say that.

Thanks Phil, I do have a friendly tyre fitter, can he fix the tyre even when it's been spunked then assuming it could have been fixed anyway?

Mine have always been fixed. My guy uses the patches below:

All it takes is someone who is a craftsman, as opposed to a tyre fitter ;)

Obviously there are areas of the tyre that can't be fixed:

There's a standard BSAU159f:1990, but it's not the law.

This makes an intersting read (Page 62/63) - http://www.gwocgb.co.uk/documents/tgw_mc-tyres.pdf

Sorry, got carried away.... Interesting though.
