Hi,
My LCD for the MFD is pretty fubar. I am looking at sourcing a replacement
cluster and have some questions:
1) How much do they go for? (new) - are Vagparts the best for new?
2) What's involved in integrating them? (I know physically it's easy as I have
had mine in and out)
3) If I get a German one can these be adapted to work? (I don't mind km/h and
other metric units)
There a lots on ebay.de but I am reluctant so spend the money unless I know it
will work.
Thanks a lot
Jon

RE: Instrument cluster
it's the same old issue of immobilisers i think. you need the SKC code from the dealer unless you still have it on the original tag that came with the keys. without the 4 digit code you can't recode the immobilisor transponders to the car (or something like that) and if you get a second hand one with more than 100km on it you can't change the mileage although i do believe you can recode the dash to read in miles etc if it's a metric one

RE: Instrument cluster
I have the SKC tag. The one I am looking at is 0km and should be changeable. How much would a dealer charge to do this?

RE: Instrument cluster
no idea, there's plenty of info on the ross-tech website i believe, i found it a while back from a link on audisport. if you have vag-com it's quite possible you can do it yourself

A year 2000 car won't have come with the required code. I have a key with a tag but still need to go to a dealer to get a key codedJonnyX wrote:I have the SKC tag. The one I am looking at is 0km and should be changeable. How much would a dealer charge to do this?

There's lots of info regarding all this on the ROSS-TECH site
