Insurance

Post by clubsport » Thu Jan 18, 2007 12:19 pm

Guys it is that time of year....I completed forms on confused and money supermarket etc.....now seem to be getting calls from insurers hungry for the relatively small business.

Currently with Admiral, 8 yr protected ncb, renewal comes in at just under £300 on a standard car

Bell and elephant already cheaper, keen to beat the deal own further!....has anyone experience of Bell and Elephant please.

£300. do you live in a Monestry!?

33, Kent, 3 points £600 with Admiral, full no claims.

I've used Elephant in the past, never claimed but the customer service was fine.

Bell and Elephant are all part of the Admiral group.

Each year I get three different quotes from them although normally generally all the most competetive for me.

You can normally use them to beat each other down. Online quotes quite good. You can add and remove mods to see how much they will load too.

Admiral cover my remap (20% performance increase declared) and brakes without too much hassle. Loaded the premium a buit for the remap, brakes was really only an admin charge.

They are cheap but charge for everything, green cards, covering courtesy cars if your in a garage etc etc.

Touch wood never claimed, but they are otherwise OK to deal with.

Thanks for the responses Guys, apologies for posting in the wrong section.

BR postcode, car is unmodified...looks like 2 of the 3 players are going to beat it down to just north of £250 with protected ncb......fairly cheap to run the good old S4 :)

I have used Elephant before (for a Fiesta!) and they were fine but I didn't have to claim. I have used Admiral before for a "fast" car, did claim and they were very good.

I've heard from some of the S2 boys that Elephant are great when it comes to quoting. great when it comes to customer service. BUT if you have the misfortune of claiming they will be the biggest pain in the 4rse! If you write your car off then you will only get the bare minimum the cars worth - regardless of miles, condition etc Then begins the legal process... ... ...

Try Adrian Flux. I stupidly moved away from them this year as I did not read the small print that stated they would match my best quote  You'd think they would have this in MASSIVE BOLD print!

37yrs, 8 years NCB, No points convictions or anything, car parked on driveway.... 1999 S4 Milltek dual fitted... nothing else....
used as second car limit of 5k miles..... 730 GBP

Is it Sheffield that is the problem!

Absolutely recommend Greenlight hands down...

They replace modded items like for like and if not availble give you cash to cover it (EG: FMIC in the event of a front end etc)
If the car is stolen/written off they will pay out at the estimated value including the mods
They offer optional track day cover as and when

I was searching for a quote on my car... based on 450HP, all my mods listed protected no claims fully comp cost me £1200, 250 Excess.

I am 24 6years NCB & no convictions

Nearest quote was from Adrian Flux at 1900 wtih some SILLY excess.

Green light get the thumbs up from me!

I've been with Elephant for about 5 years and can't really complain about them at all. Had the misfortune to claim last April (some tosspot tried to break into the car through the rear windscreen) and the whole claims and settlement process was hassle free. Although I did have to argue over getting the glass repalced by a non approved windscreen supplier. Their nominated supplier couldn't do the job for 2 days and I ws expecting to move the day after the glass was broken. After tellng them to listen to their tapes they realised I had apoint and they sent a cheque to me the same day.

Very odd, I left it for a week then had 2 insurance cos from the same group try to get the business,,,,settled with elephant at £254 10yrs protected ncb, £250 xs, 6k miles a year.........really pays to hunt around for insurance, makes running the standard S4 a cheap performance car bargain! :)
