Trying to negotiate the purchase of a six months old S6 5.2. Long story but the car was sold to me on the basis it had front parking sensors. It hasn't and the dealer is telling me they can reto fit a third party system but not the original Audi system that plugs into the MMI system. I've checked with Audi customer services who say there is an original kit available to fit, but I'd have to check the chassis number with the parts department at the Audi dealer.

Anyone know if I'm being fed a line by the dealer to save money a fit a cheap off the self parking kit, or can you really not retro fit the front Audi parking sensors?

Help would be appreciated.

Saw this a few months ago while researching the market. Nice bit of kit, I never speed though so it would be no good to me.

I saw this yesterday and hoped you would get some responses from those in the know. In general, I would never trust a dealer that says something cannot be retro fitted. This is an area they never seem as keen to be aware of as specialists do. Keep digging.

Well the dealer is sticking to his guns and states the front parking sensors cannot be retro fitted into the MMI system. I can have them fitted but I'll have to have a switch under the dash to switch them on and off. I even offered to pay but that had no effect either so they've taken £400 off the price of the car. To be honest I would rather of had the sensors, oh well.

It amazes me that in the options list rear park is £300, front and rear optical parking (little picture appears on the MMI system screen) is £545. On a £55K car why wouldn't you have it, amazing really. Mind you, out of the 15 or so 6 month old S6 Avant's for sale only about two of the have the front and rear spec'd. Maybe it's me.

I'll just have to put a flag on the bonnet when the wife drives it so she can tell when to stop.
