Gents, with many of you having re-mapped your beasts, what has it done to your insurance premiums? Do you HAVE to disclose that you have had the work done? Should maybe have checked before booking the car in

I have declared. Declaring the full gain of my remap and not bluffing a 10% power increase raised my premium noticably, but not rediculously.
To be honest, the worst case is them refusing to insure you and you having to do a quick policy shuffle.

Woody,
Did you have it standard and then mod it?
If so what sort of difference did it make ££ wise.

marks, if you search you will see other posts about this periodically.
The only responsible advice is to consult your insurer prior to doing any mods, then declare them and pay the premiums. Better that than have the insurer find them on the car when you claim. The T's and C's of car insurance policies are clear and when it suits them, insurance companies do exercise their rights to void them.
It does look good value to add mods if you compare the premium for each with faster (usually more expensive cars) that your mods allow you to match

Thats how I explain it to Mrs T anyway

David, thanks for those words of wisdom. I shall try and exercise that opinion this evening to Mrs S.
I just checked with my insurance company and they will not cover any kind of re-map. This is a bit of an inconvenience. However, through previous threads I have seen names mentioned (Thanks Woody for one) of other places which are somewhat more sympathetic to our quest for power

Noel Dazely quoted an additional ~£150 when I asked for a quote for a standard S4 and for a chipped S4.

I'll second that....I'm with adrianflux and declared all my mods, they quoted me cheaper with all mods than my previous company without mods.

Seeing as N.Dazely and Greenlight are site sponsors, I would urge you to try those first. If you find someone better, then it is worth telling them about RS246 and how they can attract business here

I renewed my insurance with Greenlight last year, on a recommendation from RS246, declared all mods and the premium was about the same as before, but with like for like cover on the mods.
As others have alluded to above, DO NOT drive around (in a modded car) without being properly insured.
