i think the transponder has to be done at a dealer unless you have acces to the security pin. has your new key been cut yet?

You can do it yourself if you have two transponders - the working one goes in the ignition while you re-code the other one. I have this info on file somewhere if you need it.

Unless you have the specific code required you won't be able to do it yourself. Job for the dealer these days. You can get the buttons working yourself with some clever key presses.

There is a posting on the forum somewhere letting you know how to re-programme the fobs. Try the search facility....I'm sure I've got a copy of it somewhere at work....hopefully find it tomorrow and will post it.

the remote part of it is as simple as putting the key in the door, unlocking it and then pressing the open or close button for 5 secs. the tricky bit is the transponder for the immobillisor

thanks guys!
basically I still have the original key blade which has snapped off the transponder unit. I have a new transponder unit with someone elses key blade on it still. I was hoping to be able to use that transponder (as it looks much newer) with my old key blade, but it doesnt sound like this will be too easy!

An Audi Stealer will charge you approx £50 (No less) to sort this out for you or alternatively you could try:
1. Have a new blank key cut and have them fit it to your new - not working transponder.
2. Jury rig your old key together - tape or whatever you can use.
Then try the instructions in my post.

By the way I would fit a new battery in your new transponder before you do this as if the battery goes there is a chance you will have to do all this again.

The transponder isnt battery driven and cant be recoded with the ignition trick - this applies only to the infra red/central locking component of the key.
Youll probably need to pay the stealers unless

get your new key cut to match the car then knock the pin out of the base of the key blade and swap it into your old transponder, bingo, job done. you'll be using your old remote and transponder, will that do it?

Was it only the blade that snapped?
