Shell V Power

Got home from work today to find an envelope from Shell on my doormat containing my new Shell V power loyalty card to replace my old optimax card. Reading all the bumpf that came with it, it appears that Shell are replacing optimax with new V power which is 99 ron. As I needed to fill up tomorrow anyway I thought I'd have a run down to my local Shell garage to see what's what and low and behold they're selling it ... lots of leaflets about and all the staff were wearing V power T-shirts, etc.
Have I been asleep for the last few months and everyone else know about this or is everybody in the same boat as me. It's not been widely advertised I haven't even heard a whisper or seen an advertising boarding saying Shell were planning to bring 99 ron to the UK. I know they sell it on the continent so it probably makes financial sense for them especially now that BP & Tesco are selling 98 & 99 ron respectively.
What surprised me more is that Shell seem to be selling it at the same price as optimax - 99.9p which is what I paid last week. I thought they'd use it as a 'premium' product and want a couple extra pence for it.
Anyone else tried it? I suppose a couple of extra ron will give a slight performance enhancement ... what do people reckon?
Rich.
