Insurance Renewal

Post by springfield » Fri Jan 13, 2006 9:41 pm

All,Insurance renewal is up shortly, anybody run their car on a limited mileage policy ?as my car is strictly a second car (toy).

98 Avant with some tweeks :D

I am with Tesco at present but that runs out at £640 Fully Comp £250 excess standard policy.

44 clean licence ??car kept in private garage, low risk area.

Any tips out there for the good bad and the ugly of insurance companys.

Cheers All Jim. :?:

Got mine with Admiral.

MRC custom tune and othe mods. £640 quid. Limited mileage but don't know if this really made a difference - minw is due renewal also so I will double check this point.

For me Admiral battered the rest on premiums.

Similar to yourself, I paid £486 Fully comp (£450 Excess) with Screentrade [ actual policy is with NIG Options]
Easy, all done online.
Direct Line quote above is excellent - I couldn't get that though!!

Well I have been surfing, Admiral were good £456 FC £250 Excess but got a quote from Bell Direct whom we have 2 policies with (freelanders) stuck Jayne my partner on the quote and came out at £355 FC £250 excess.

Methinks I shall be going to Bell.

Cheers Jim.

Got all 3 of my Audi's (S4, Urq and A6 Tdi) insured with Elephant.co.uk (part of Admiral), they never fail to come up with great quotes for each car, been with them about 5 years now.

Well worth a try IMHO

So springfield....spill the beans then !!
How do we contact "Bell Direct" ?
You asked us for our advice and then went with the people you already have insurance with !
How come you Insured with Tesco in the first place?

I've an RS4 with elephant with Stage I remap and upgraded brakes, all declared, Class 1 business use no mileage restrictions, garaged, decent alarm, 47 yrs old, fairly high risk area (caught some toe rags IN a previous car on my drive some years back) .... £ 628. Have been with Elephant for 4 or 5 years with this RS4 and a previous S4 .. so would agree with S4Quattro comments above. If I remember (which is hard at my age) there are some postings on the RS4 section recommending "Greenlight" ... but I can't be too sure.

UKS4,
Contacted Bell via the net we already have 2 cars with them and they are reasnoble,my prevous car was with Tesco with about 8 months left to run so just transferred car details with a view to looking about when renewal came as they were circa £650 i have found that your premiums reduce if you include the spouse/partner/missus Bell premiums tend to go uo significantly if you have points.
Cheers Jim.

i'm also with ADMIRAL at the moment and did an online quote which replied back asking £85 on top of my premium for the 2.0 8v cabrio. "nice one" but just to confirm i called them today and it actually was £22.19 extra. thinking per month extra but no that was from now until october. premium now £384 + £22.19 (£406.19)f/comp with £250 excess. i live in n,wales 10mins from chester low to med area i'd say and parked on drive. amazing how quotes vary with admiral.

i'm 32, married (missus as named driver) clean licence, 9yrs ncb, protected, upto 10k pa. same declarations as cab (aftermarket alloys/lowered/£1000ice) not that i'll be mucking with my s4 when i get one!

ALL THE MORE REASON FOR ME TO GET ONE NOW!!!!!

The two advantages with Greenlight for me are

1. They will replace/repair the mods as well as the car
2. £65 extra for each track day

This insurance lark is bloody confusing. I wonder if the quotations come out of a random generator.

1st - Tartan Rob gets a great premium from Direct Line. I was with direct line when I bought my S4. They wouldn't even quote me. Just for the record I am 40 with full NCD, clean licence. Limited mileage also.

2nd - Just got a quote from Bell and they came in at £500 quid. Springfield I know your car is modded so how the bloody hell did you get a quote like that?
