Just received quote for £2200 from Audi incl Audi assistance.Does this seem a good price for 98 S4 on 80k? It would cover turbo and heatshield replacement, or better to save money and replace with upgraded items when time comes!?

Bobjebb,
Where was that from and does it cover "wear and tear" etc?

sorry i meant £870 - Smith Knight Fay Cheshire. Doubt if it covers wear and tear, never thought to ask. It was just an enquiry at this stage. He did say that the prices are reviewed every few months, so by August when mine is due it may be different. If you call them I spoke to Terry Leonard. Could you let me know if you do, they owe me some money towards some warranty work I've had down down here and if they get 'forgetful' it might be handy for mr to remind them that I've sent business their way...
Cheers, Bob

Might just give them a ring myself, and will certainly drop your name in conversation.
Thanks

My warranty is up next month, so I'm back to worrying about "should I, or shouldn't I" again!
Warranty costs

I was quoted £ 1100 odd by my dealership on my RS4 . I know the original warranty cost me £ 915 in Feb 2004. Worth every penny in my book. It covers (or covered??) anything that would constitute an MoT failure so should actually include cats (if the failure leads to incorrect emissions I assume). In the past unluck 3 months I've ahd a pair of turbos and now an oil cooler being replaced under warranty. So yo can see from where I'm sitting, the warranty is worth it.

Following all these quotes for extended warrantees I called Dovercourt in Battersea and was informed that it was still not possible to purchase one !! Can't understand why you guys are receiving quotes through various sources but Audi are still not seeling them ? Am still listed to purchase one and covered until this sorts itself out....confusing

Any latest news on this FSA issue? Time is running out for me if I'm going to get one. Now quoted 1100 quid too from dealer. It's a Mondial warranty, and "apparantly" the only difference is that it won't be 'badged' as an Audi one. Level of cover is the same. Obviously I'd prefer a branded one, and I don't want to go via the Mondial route if Audi get it sorted anytime soon. Sods law it'll be sorted the day after I've bought the Mondial one... Anyone have any inside knowledge?

The original Audi badged product was underwritten by Mondial so there shouldn't be that much difference. I've had a letter from Mondial asking me to register my interest in buying a warranty for £ 1138 (Incl IPT) - I think it's a necessity (considering I've had two turbos and an oil cooler this year already on warranty).

Yeah, if you want to renew your warranty, you go direct through Mondial (if you want the Audi one that is) since Audi still can't sell them. If you want I can give you the number of someone to call there who sorted my warranty out just pm me. The warranty is applicable to cars that have less than 100k on the clock and seems pretty comprehensive like the last audi one I had. It is indeed £1138 but I had a new gearbox last year which would have been about £7k all in so from my position as well, it's well worth it!
You have 14 days after your warranty expires to buy a new one from Mondial, but it's probably worth starting communications with them before it runs out so there's no problems in leaving it a couple of weeks!

Have now received the Mondial Warranty documentation and have the waaranty in place from 20 July for a year. £ 1138 for a 2000 RS4. Reading through the booklet the warranty is "similar" to teh Audi one but have noticed the following excceptions:-
Replacement Car Hire: Cover for 48 hours only. Under the original product I'd had a hire car for 2 weeks!
MoT item failure: No such item in the new warranty. The original product would cover any item which would constitute an MoT failure if that failure occurred 30 days either side of an MoT.
Will have to spend a bit more time looking at the document a bit later.
