Who's Servicing My Car?

Took the car in to Audi yesterday for its 60k service. I forgot to check the exact mileage before handing over the keys but knew there was 100 miles worth of fuel in it. After the service the computer said 65 miles left. OK, I thought, maybe the computer isn't too accurate but still, the thought pi**ed me off immensely. Had some greasy-arsed escort-driving mechanic been cruising in my beloved S4? I wouldn't know. It spoilt my evening.

This morning I rang my GPS/tracker-wallah, who told me that I had dropped the car off at 10:27am, following which it was started a number of times but did not move, until at 13:07pm it was driven precisely 2.11 miles. He gave me the roads it had travelled on. Did I want to know the speeds sir? At exactly 5:18pm, I had picked the car up and bought it back home.

This new-fangled technology...it'll never catch on, you know.

Now pay attention Double Eaugh Seven... :smile_smoking:

My local dealer made the mistake of not resetting the DIS after "test driving" the car. The battery had been out for a warranty job so all the DIS stats were reset. I picked up the car and checked the average MPG which was 10.2
I subtly advised them not to be so stupid in the future.

Cheers

Yes, I slipped up with this.

Mine was reading below 10mpg when I collected it and what I thought was a quarter tank or so used. This was after the turbos were changed.

Turns out they had it running in the service bay to check all was OK and it had only been on a 5 mile test drive.

I did say sorry though.

Dealers have more to lose if spotted thrashing customers cars that any one member of their staff stands to gain doing it, surely ?
