Are they VAG-COM friendly?

Post by s4dave » Wed Sep 01, 2004 7:50 am

Anyone any experience of discussing fault codes / logs produced by VAG-COM with main dealers?

Do they appreciate the additional info... or do they tell you to go and shove your warranty???

Likewise with mine. I think the only ones that get upset are the ones who don't really know what they are doing, so you end up telling them how to do their job... End of the day I think it lets you differentiate between a good dealer and an under-trained one.

Mine seem to getting a bit more trusting. They still write "unconfirmed - customer diagnosis" on the paper work though. :bash:

Cheers Chaps... I went ahead and discussed the coupla DTCs that VAG-COM is currently reading (and the reduced air flow figures) ; the only comment from the Audi Tech in the service department was "please don't clear down the DTCs before you bring the car in"...

Cool!

agree - if you clear the DTCs, then unless the problem is apparent they wont 'fix' it - If the DTC is there, they have something to work from...

I never clear them if I want them to work on it. There's no point.

Had no problems here when I took my car in and asked to have one of the O2 sensors replaced due to "fault codes". I didn't specifically say I had a VAG-COM though..
