I went onto Greenlight Insurances website and filled out the application form for an insurance quote on my S4 Avant.

Today I received the following reply:-

Mr Davey

We are writing in connection with your request for a motor insurance quote.

Unfortunately we are unable to quote for modified vehicles in your particular postcode area (LS) due to our bad claims experience over the last 2 years.

We do have one underwriter who can offer rates in this postcode but they only insure vehicles up to 250bhp.

Sorry we are unable to help.

The car is kept in an alarmed garage and fitted with a CAT 1 Clifford alarm.

I've never been turned down before.

Underwriters are strange creatures, once they get a bee in thier bonnet they become very single minded about it. Try NU, their very liberal and open minded, or join th equattro owners club and use thier cheap scheme.

If you are over 30 then Liverpool Victoria are good

I'm actually with them at the moment Jon, as I transferred from my previous car under this policy. I'll wait and see what the renewal is before I decide.
