Prices for Audi extended warranty

Post by stan » Sat Jan 31, 2004 8:46 am

Looks like a 50% increase in prices for Audi extended warranty on my May 99 S4 compared to last year. I was quoted £1080 for a named components policy and £1380 for all components. I'm still waiting for written details but it seems rather expensive. Can anybody recommend any other warranty companies (exc. Warranty Holdings)?

My RS4 was £765 for the Audi extended warranty. It appears that it is based on engine size rather than model type.

It was £800 ish last year. The prices have increased significantly since 1st Jan as the scheme is now underwritten by a different insurance company.

The price is still based on engine size.

I was quoted £900 recently as well. They told me that they
have new policies now (i.e. more expensive). It also
doesn't cover wear and tear.

I think I may start writing a list of warranty jobs down now before the 3 years runs out. What constitutes wear and tear? Brakes, clutch?

Too right, do a list and fax it to the dealer and ask them to call you with a date. You've paid for the warranty so you should use it.

Call the dealer and ask them to post the booklet to you, it explains it all.

Thanks.
I can only presume that because the warranty on the car is the original 3 year one, that it is underwritten by the company that covers wear and tear.

The warranty that cost me £ 765 last year on my S4 (RS4 is the same because it's based on engine capacity) is now £ 1343

There is a lower level of cover which 'only' costs £ 1080. Not sure what the difference is yet though.

So there you go.

Can someone check this by calling another dealer perhaps ?

I just called Guildford Audi (01483 547700).

If the car is still within its 3yr Audi warranty it will be £757 for a further year. If the 3yrs has expired then you need to pay for an inspection.

If you were to take out the 5th years warranty at current pricing it goes up by £102 to £859.

Level of cover is very similar to Audio warranty, but would not cover all of the manufacturers defects (such as wiring faults).

Hope that helps guys.

By the way, the chap said this can be pretty much sorted over the phone.

Thanks for doing that John.

I should have been clearer though, apologies.

My S4 is 3 years and 10 months old so last year £ 765 was year 4.

The price I got today way for year 5 £ 1343 was descibed as being equivalent to the original 3 year warranty.

How can two dealers be £ 484 different ?

No idea David.

I'd call Guildford and/or your dealers and ask them the question. Maybe get them to cinfirm the insurers too, as I believe the dealers have the opportunity to supply any warranty they like...

Btw, the quotes I got were for an RS4, but they should be the same.

Cheers,
John.

I paid 540 for mine and although I am not sure if the dealer wants his name around if people mail me I can let them know. Sure he would be happy for the business as he is not local to me. Cover is with AON taken in December and when I called them out the other day to listen to my engine the nice man was sent around in an Audi Allroad same day.

Only worrying thing about the exercise was that he knew my wife but turns out that he repaired an old car out our house when he was an RAC man in a past life .

The deals seem to be out there is you look.

Robert.
