Story so far

Post by toasty » Fri Jan 23, 2004 10:21 am

As you may know, I would like to sell my S4, just doing too many miles these days and I have a big service coming up plus the warranty expires soon, etc... etc...etc ...

That said, I'm not getting many offers on the car, but I'm reluctant to sell for much less than the asking price. (circa £13k)

See my car for sale here Best S4 in the world

Anyway, Audi charge about £800 for a full service (80k includes cambelt, oil, filters, plugs, brake fluid etc...)
I phoned AMD, and they charge much the same which I was surprised at.

However since it will be out of warranty in April and I can't get the full Audi warranty any more (over 5 years old) I was thinking of just getting a mate (who is a mechanic to do the service)

What does everyone here reckon? I think I could cut down the cost by half at least, plus I don't think it'll seriously affect the resale as if I keep it for another year it'll only be worth £10k (or less!) with 90k on the clock.

Does anyone have a copy of the manual I can borrow which details what has to be changed at 80k and also how to do it? I think the front bumper has to come off to change the cambelt etc...

Any advice, tips would be gratefully received.

Dan, I get all my work down at VW & Audi in Stonehouse -they charge circa. £30 hr and my last service which also included extras like wipers, spark plugs, MOT, fuel filter, brake fluid change with SRF and a few other things was about £300'ish. I trust them to look after my car, give me personal service and not to rag my car on the test drive - can you say the same for an offical centre?

Tel. 01453 822855 and ask to Speak to Dave Tuner.
