OK then, Greenlight 01277 263 030

Mod friendly, they know the Audi tuners and the mods available.

A proper broker with knowledgeable staff who can answer questions immediately (like how much extra for XXX brakes etc)

Can provide trackday cover on top for £ 65/day with double the standard excess.

Very happy with them, certainly recommended.

For my stock RS4, only £650 per annum for me (aged 32, full NCB, no points) plus the missus, living in London (SW6) on-street parking.

Next cheapest was Privilege at approx. £850, Egg at £1k. All the rest were £2,500 and up.

Hope this helps someone out there get a good deal.

Remember that Elephant do NOT insure the parts themselves.

NFU Mutual

They only care about mods which increase engine performance. However they may also insist on a brake upgrade. All my mods below cost a 10% increase to the premium.

Adrian Flux, been superb with me so far. Had alot of hassle with my previous insurer (Greenlight) due to Cat status of my S3 and then alot of hassle getting NCB certificates. AF sorted it all out and now paying £875 5yrs NCB with all my mods declared (Remap, brakes, Wheels & Spacers).

What Car Insurance (was Royal Sun allliance although this is changing)

They insured all my mods but insisted on the brake upgrade. premium increased from £680 to £1220 (but I did have loads of mods so fair enough, I thought)

Direct line.

insured both my Modded S3's with them

Remapped S3 11-20 %
Porsche Brakes and spacers all round
Diverter Valve

along with all my Audi factory fitted extras which are also deemed as modifications

ie Factory Sat Nav Plus, Factory fit, non standard Alloy - OEM 18" RSTT wheels, Factory fit lowered Quattro GmBh Suspention , polished mirrors etc etc...

easy to deal with, when adding mods

only the remap cost extra. Rest were no cost, and no admin cost to add to policy either...

I'm with Greenlight too as they cover for track days as already mentioned.

One point of note is that some insurers (Direct Line, Privelege) will only replace non OEM parts with OEM parts.

I.e. £1600 Porsche brakes will be replaced with OEM brakes

Yes, that's what I meant about Elephant. When choosing an insurance company this is something you should always check.

Also some companies are only mod friendly if you are already insured by them before the mods - i.e. they don't take on new customers with modded cars.

Yes I agree with you Dave. Royal and Sun Alliance were initially not going to insure my mods until I asked them to take it to the iunderwriters which they did. I am sure that if I were a new customer there would have been no chance of getting insurance.

When it came to insuring my M3 I was rubbing my hands in anticipation of a reduced premium but the response was, sorry, we don't insure that particular model. And I even protested telling them that Dave from RS246 says that the torque is not that high but they still didn't want to know

So I went to Dell Direct who were the cheapest by a long way.
Protected no claims of 5 years was accepted even though I had a claim 4 years ago as well as a couple of windscreen claims and an unisured loss claim. So I'm now a advocate of PNC.

I received a call from the new owner of my S4 asking - where should I go to get insurance............. hope he's reading this thread.
