Just dreaming and I thought I would check with my insurers to see what the premium would be for the AMD 350bhp big turbo conversion.

Anyway they quoted me approx £1250 which was pleasantly surprising

maybe one day

It is tempting but I am still a year away from contemplating doing it seriously. I could also buy a URQ for the price of the conversion, and I would imagine I would have to keep the S3 for many years afterwards to get my moneys worth out of the conversion.

But then again I might do it just so Sita has to then do it!!!!

Bradford, by the time you get the go-ahead to do this (ie you've cleared this with your Mrs ), I'll have my RS4 which will still be leaving you behind..

Dunc, who's the insurance co? And you could always try one of Jabbas IHI jobbies for a similar effect at a good price

Cheers

Do you use Greenlight? What are they like? Their office is on the same road as mine

I havent claimed off them so dont know them in that respect, although it was a guy at work with an Imprezza who gave me their number and he has claimed and said they were fine. They are also savvy when it comes to modifications (which I like) and they cover me for track days (which I like too!)

Its very hard to find affordable track day cover nowadays

what's the position with these turbo conversions with respect to turbo Lag? am I right in thinking that a bigger turbo will introduce more Lag or is this minimised by better breathing??

With a roller bearing turbo the idea is that "they have a very fast spool up, reaching effective boost-producing speed low in the cars RPM range and therefore keeping lag to a minimum "

Stolen from Jabbas site. The rest of the jist is that there is much increased air flow and less heat blah blah blah.
Had to type it in as can't copy from their Flash site.
Look under Turbo Kits. Jabba
