Jon,
If you don't mind, I think I'll give you a ring today, am getting a little annoyed with Elephant.
If you remember I clipped wing mirrors with a guy on the 1st May, the damage was minimal and I've already paid for the damage to mine (£100) and I'm happy to pay for the damage to his car. (I'm told about the same as mine)
I'm still waiting on Churchill Insurance (his insurer) for the total cost....
As neither of us could stop at the accident site I reported the accident to the police and he must have done the same, because his insurers and the police contacted me shortly afterwards.
To be honest I would have preferred not to inform my insurance company, but they now know about the accident.
When I got my renewal notice through this week they are claiming that I now have only 2 years no claims, when I think I should have 5, as I haven't (nor will I) be claiming for anything.
My details are:
My current insurer is Elephant, They want £1100 a year fully comp on a '98 S4 saloon (no mods, worth c £16k) parked on a driveway overnight with 5yrs (Elecphant say 2yrs) no-claims (not protected). I'm 26 (IT consultant) and live in Bristol, I had 3points in Sept '99 for TS10. My G/f is a named driver (She's 29, teacher)
...oh and I do about 15k miles per year, just social and commuting to one place of work and I'm named driver on her car so I regularly drive another vehicle.
For what it's worth, it all seems a little unfair as the insurance companies don't know who is to blame (I admit I am though) but they are still taking my no-claims before the decision has been made, and I would have thought no-claims meant just that, and I have never made a claim.....
Thanks Jon, what time would be convenient to call? and happy B/Day for yesterday

Re: My Insurance renewal
ring me after 11, there is a good reason for being knocked down on the bonus front. They do it until the claim is settled, but if you send them a letter stating the full details of the claim and the fact that you will indemnify the claim, they should reinstate your bonus. Give me a bell and I will see what I can do!
