I'm looking for recommendations on an exhaust fabricator that can remove the centre silencer on my b7 rs4 and replace with an x-pipe. I live near Guildford so somewhere in that neck of the woods ideally. Everywhere I tried so far either doesn't offer it or isnt interested in getting back to me.
Any done something similar and can recommend someone?

Do you not have a Longlife exhausts or Powerflow pexhausts type place near you?
Brighton has a Powerflow.

Thanks Mike. Will check them out. Very keen to keep the system looking stock but get a bit more of a growl.

Hayward and Scott are the only people who have got back to me - they've quoted £350 for a weld in option and £800 for a bolt in (to make it easier to return to stock).
Sounds like they'll need the car for at least a day or two so would really prefer something closer to home. That would be two four hour round trips in as many days.

It's a 2 hour job. Just drive in to a local fabricator. They are normally busy under cars during the day so terrible for answering phones.
If it was a whole exhaust or something tricky then I'd say make the effort and go to H&S but this is a simple job.

I paid £650 (from memory) at longlife in Carshalton to take a standard system, replace the centre resonator with an x-pipe, make new downpipes (most of the cost) utilising the 200 cell main cats, and fit to the car. It cost a bit more than anyone would probably have to pay as the car arrived to them on a flatbed with the sawn off remains of a vortex exhaust hanging off the car (long story).
I had the centre x made up with flanges in case I wanted to swap back the centre resonator- waste of time, don't bother.
A straightforward x should be around £150-£200

Now we're talking. Longlife in Basingstoke £150 for weld-in option or £260 for bolt-on with all associated flanges.
I'm booked in for a couple weeks - will report back how everything goes.
Cheers for the suggestions guys.
