Are the later models touch screen,I've just bought a 2007 RS4 and was wondering if a later version is fitted with a touch screen and would it fit my 2007

Nope. It's not even touch screen now.

If you want a touch screen you will have to go for an afermarket unit. Luckily this is still possible with the B7 (not so lucky in later cars).

Mike with the aftermarket ones are the nav and all the standard functions sill usable,also I tried to connect my phone via Bluetooth but no joy,do I take it the b7 doesn't have Bluetooth feature ?

Standard functions of what? The standard RNS-E functions? If you fit an aftermarket stereo you will have to replace the standard stereo and sat nav etc. It's all one unit.

Apparently boss system is not very happy with aftermarket stereos...

Bose is crap. I'd replace the Bose before the stereo. Standard stereo sounds very good with CDs once you get rid of Bose app and speakers.
I guess it all depends on what you are after? Just a touch screen and not bothered about sound? I think touchscreens are the worst thing to have in a car, you need take your eyes off the road to look at what you're trying to press.I'd much rather have buttons I can feel in a car.

I hated the touch screens in my Jag and Range Rover. The finger prints drove me around the bend as the interior never looked clean, also the screens weren't the most responsive of interfaces. That maybe improved now with later systems?

Up until very recently all the car stereos had the old resistive type touch screens which were not as nice as the capacitive type found on things like the iPad and phones. Now some of the later car play or apple play or whatever it's called have the better capacitive screens.

Ok that's the touch screen out of the window,what about linking my phone via Bluetooth With the standard set up ?

Pretty easy and cheap to DIY, if you get the bits via eBay.
