Hi guys

So I'm looking to join the S/RS club but unsure which direction to take. My budget is 10K-15K so would probably be looking at a C5 RS6, C6 S6 or B6 S4.

I've read up a bit about the issues with the RS6 (gearbox / suspension) but what are the common faults with the S6 and S4?

Would love to hear from some owners with any advice.

If cat D doesnt, bother you there is a cat D b7 rs4 up for sale right now.. Maybe hell take an offer?

Id avoid c5 rs6 as it sounds like this is all your budget and you need a slush fund to fix them. Gets nasty, but awesome if u can afford it

I have a budget set aside for repairs / modification work. But surely the 4.2 in the S4 and 5.0 in the S6 must be similar in terms of running / maintenance costs??

I really like the RS4, but I'm lazy and want an auto box!!

Then id try and get a b8 s4 and tune it... Hard to beat at that price point imo.

Look up chain tensioner issues on the B6 S4. Engine out job - looking at £2-3k. Not an issue on the RS4

Tuned B8 S4's can be rapid!

I have read a little about that. Doesn't sound ideal! Not sure whether a B8 S4 is within budget??

If you have 15k + tuning / repair money you can maybe get one from ebay.. But dont expect it to be mint
