Right chaps - two initial points: not looking to get into income or net worth (that's obviously very personal) and not looking to be nosey in general, but as a stand alone monthly figure, do you have a "red line" which you won't cross for monthly payments for cars?

At the moment, I have both the RS4 and Disco and they're within my comfort zone (and there's enough £ in them to dump them if I wanted/ needed to). I'm thinking about 'going big' (RS6 PE, 911 GTS, Spyder or - unlikely - GT4) and I'm just wondering if your man-maths are as as mine.

I know there are loads of unspoken variables - % deposit, usage, mileage etc. etc., - this is more a 'gut feel' question.

I assume your looking used GTS or GT4? Factor here is finance will be at a higher rate as used cars.

I don't think there's a straight forward answer, other than I'd always want to have money in the car. If you go min deposit and the arse falls out of the financial market 2008 style and you need to liquidate there could be issues.

Oh yes, used. Finance out there for 4.5 / 4.7 / 4.9% (2 / 3 / 4 years).

And I agree wrt to min deposit. That is risky.

Difficult to have a figure as depends on your income/net worth.

I.e for someone on £30k renting its £200 but someone on £100k with £1m assets its £1k

For me its whatever is left after paying all bills etc and saving a good Chunk each month .... That's enough for me to waste it on an F-TYPE R!

R8 - 37250
Cayman GT4 - 37000
911 GTS - 46000

^ those numbers are meaningless without the specifics

Benjy on here is selling his mint Sepang V10. That's a good one and depreciation free for at least 1yr

The reason for posting this is that I think the 911 really looks like the best long term bet.

Not a chance

the manual V10+ will hold its value best

the "RVs" are GFV's

they are what the bank is willing to take a punt on, leaving enough fat to make a big profit at the end

They are not a prediction of future value

the 911 Pork is 1yr younger than the R8, that accounts for more than the £8,750 difference in RV.

If you want somewhere to put your money, and enjoy supercar thrills with minimum depreciation, the R8 V10 Plus Manual in Sepang is a no brainer.

The GT 4 premiums bubble will pop ... they are awesome cars I'm sure, but they are not Supercars, or even Super Sports Cars ... just an epic Sports car.

I actually disagree DK. 991GTS last of the na 911s and a relatively small run. They'll hold well as they have with 997.

Link doesn't work from TT. Must be used, haven't been any new ones since last year.

Agreed, R8 is going to ship less but that's a much older car in the grand scheme of things. Though I prefer it to the new one.
