Hi all, took my b7 rs4 to a reputable tuner for a stage 2 map,car made good power and i left happy and continued on my journey to devon,however next morning starting car from cold i had epc,traction control and emisions lights on,car wouldnt rev above 2k and was misfiring.
I was 300 miles from home but managed to get a local car tuner out to read fault codes, there were a few which were deleted but the one which didnt was check sum p0601.
i had car hauled back to the reputable tuners (£240) and got train home ( newcastle £90)
They contacted me today to say my car is all ready and it was a faulty clutch switch??
Does this sound plausable to you guys?
The advise im getting from else where is that the faulty clutch switch story really doesnt stack up and that incorrect info has been added to my car when it was mapped, it had no issues when it went in
Im remaining open minded at the minute
any thoughts most welcome

It can throw those faults yes but sounds more like a maf issue with not being able to rev the car

What trap? their diagnosis could very well be spot on, i have been advised elsewhere that it isnt, hence im on here seeking further views based on my initial post.
It wouldnt be fair to come on here naming people at this stage

Fair? You're not really believing what they said the fault was, is that fair?

Alright then, would you not be asking the question when your car was fine the day before it went in, you have been advised since by audi that this fault is most likley related to the map, you are £350 out of pocket and your car is still miles away needing collected.
Ive mentioned no names just seeking some advice, audi of course might not know what the <beep> their on about,but surley you can understand my thought process.

Audi stealers, yes, they pretty much know fack all.
Shocker, they say a map has caused faults.

What they said was that its likley the binary info on the map which related to the cold starting procedure( which i did have changed to quieten it down in a morn) could have had an incorrect sequence, meaning the car was running fine when i drove away as it was hot but when it cooled ( next morn) and when to look at that info it didnt recognise it and shut down showing fault code p0601.

From what I know having suffered clutch switch failure. Hanging revs, loss of cruise control and having to hold the start button down (instead of 1 press) are the usual symptoms of clutch switch failure!!!.

They were the issues for me but I know there are 2 switches and only 1 had failed on mine. The other switch may cause other symptoms???!!!

Sorry to hear of your problems and interested to see that within a few posts they are turning all pointy and argumentative. It's a real shame on this forum and definitely detracts.

I had the clutch switch start to fail intermittently on my B7 and it was just as the post above describes. The other switch was the brake switch which I also had replaced at the same time (both supplied and fitted for under £50) as it was hard to work out which was the intermittent fail.

No sign of any problems since.

Hi, thanks for the helpfull posts,exactly the sort of info i was hoping to get, not had the car long so im new to the scene, im certainly not looking accuse anyone of anything ( as a couple of earlier contributors got their nose out of joint) im just recieving conflicting views on the cause of the fault. Feedback im getting is that audi are the ones who generally dont tend too know what their talking about, which to a newbie seems a little strange to me( being the manufacturer of the car) but that seems to be the general consensus.

Why wouldn't it be fair? Technically ‎there was nothing afoot so if you'd said who it were, most others would say "mate, you've got nothing to worry about, that outfit is good" or something else.

In regards to 'the trap', it goes like this:

You - hey guys, I'm going to a reputable tuner tomorrow.
Us - ok, good luck, hey, BTW, who is it?
You - sorry, I don't share that information.
Us - oh, ok then, thanks.

...2 weeks later...

Me - hey guys, I just used Tuner X, they fuct my car, anyone used them before?
You - yeah, I used them, they fuct up my car too.
Me - oh great, hey mate, do you remember that time you told us about Tuner X fuqing up your car?
You - no, I don't remember that.
Me - exactly, thanks a lot, dingus.
