New car deals

I was looking to buy a 2 year old car on finance from a main dealer. Turns out it's cheaper for me to buy a brand new car than second hand. I'm actually getting a brand new car cheaper than a similar spec car which is only 6 months old!

Crazy isn't it? Makes me think that the cars are all overpriced in the first place. Thiese deals are killing the second hand market imo. Audi are having a used car weekend now. Can't see them selling many with the new car deals as they are now.

Any thoughts?

Choice of new cars is going to be limited now, so finding right car may be harder.

Deals will be done on the used stock, dealers aren't daft.

But APR on used is 11.9% and new is about 4.8%. Dealer contribution on new is 5k and on second hand is 1k!

True, for my situation is is better to go new. May be different for others. In my case I can get a brand new one than a similar spec 6 month old. :D

I think used can be a good deal if paying cash, if on finance then yes it's sometimes better to go new. What sort of discount is still available on RS4/ RS6 ?

If you weren't to go with Audi, where would you suggest?

Audi should be 9.9% on used now. New is usually cheaper, and Audi sell a LOT of used cars - not everybody is aware of the support on new models.

Depends. It can be possible to take it against mortgage at same rate. Alternatively Oracle, Santander, amongst others.

11.9% was ridiculous and even 9.9% is taking the piss on secured lending.

Agreed. You'd not pay that unless you were barking. Plenty do, mind.
