Time for insurance renewal again. My present insurer, NFU Mutual, was the best by far, at £40 less than Elephant. BUT they want £200 more to protect NCD whereas Elephant only want £55!
So it looks like I'm going to change to Elephant.
But has anyone got any info or experiences with Elephant that I should know about before making the commitment?
P.S. NU refused to quote because of the chip. Maybe they have changed policy on mods?

NU - Will quote for a chip through a broker
NU - Direct never have liked mods
Elephant - only downside is they charge £1.50 a minute even if you are ringing up to claim! which is a bit harsh!

Dippy,
I was insured with Elephant for a year when I had my scooby. Their original price was the best around, but when I changed my alloys, they wanted an extra £150 When renewal time came up, I shopped around and got it quite a bit cheaper from Liverpool Victoria, who get a lot of recommendations over on ScoobyNet. Not sure how competetive they are for the S4 - charged me £128 to upgrade from scooby to S4, with approx. 10 months remaining on my existing policy. I'll shop around again come renewal time
And as noted on the oher reply, they charge thru' the nose if you phone them. They prefer to deal with you by email, but they aren't always that quick to respond to emails

Have you tried Endsleigh Insurance. I went with them when they were prepared to barter on the price....went originally with Tesco, as Elephant would not insure me!!!, and EI phoned me and then continued to reduce their quote. They phoned back 4 times and each time reduced their quote (with no change to the policy), until I finally agreed to go with a £100 cheaper quote than Tesco's. I also get a courtesy car (unlimited) which is something Tesco's do not offer.
Cheers....

TurkS4, you go a number for Endsleigh Insurance - might give them a ring, as mine is due next month.

Turk,
I was going with Elephant until I called BELL DIRECT. BELL saved me another £50 and the cover is great. Euro cover is automatic which is a bonus.

www.confused.com - bit painful to fill in but I got a quote on my RS4 of £650 from Elephant (incl Euro cover) compared to my current £950 from Admiral.

That's a good site - although it failed to find me a better quote!
However as I need to have business cover for my new job, and because although Elephant will insure a modded car, the policy specifically does NOT cover the cost of those mods in the event of a claim, I have decided to stay with NFU Mutual.
