TT RS Brake Issues/Recall?

Hi, this is my first post on here.

I've had a look to see whether anyone else has mentioned the above before, but nothing came up in the search box, so apologies if this is old ground.

My wife's TTRS which we have had since new in 2011 has developed brake judder. It has done just 20,000 miles and never been tracked or raced or anything that I suspect would cause this problem.

Local Audi dealer also thinks that it is the discs that are warped, but won't investigate further without a cost implication. I've had another garage look at them and also thinks that the discs are warped/damaged.

Car is 6 months out of warranty (naturally!) and I'd expect the brakes to last longer than this.

I found some threads on another website, alluding to Audi replacing brake sets on TTRS and RS3s because of issues with them. Original link came from a German website.

and

My question is, has anybody else here managed to get the brakes changed FOC if they've had a problem like this? My local dealer is muttering things about 'Goodwill and contributions', but not a replacement FOC...

Thanks.

They were changed on my RS3, when I had it, right at the beginning of the campaign. It probably helped that I had registered the squeeky brakes.

To be honest, if you've got 20,000 miles and three years out of a set of discs on a performance model then my opinion (which doesn't make me right or wrong) is that you've done well and it's just time to bite the bullet. I appreciate it won't be cheap but you must of known that when you selected the RS instead of the TDI variant!

It's still on it's original OEM fitted Toyos, so I'd expect that the brakes should last longer than them, though I didn't mention that in my first post.

TDI or RS, the brakes should be able to outlast the OEM tyres. It's not used all that much.

Just a quick update on the above.

Had the brake set fitted by Five Oaks Audi FOC on my wife's car yesterday! New Callipers, Discs, Pads.

I had to speak to Audi Customer Care, mentioned that there seemed to be an ad-hoc arrangement with dealing with this complaint throughout the UK, yet it was being recalled in Germany/Europe. They did duly come back within a few days and agreed that it should be done FOC.

So I'm happy now, though I feel that it should have been done on a recall, rather than having to push for it.
