hi all,
has anyone suffered with milky oily sludge on the inside of filler cap and around where it fits. has it just been condensation from short trips or something worse. all help/answers appreciated.

Yes, got a tiny bit of that recently.

Had a 50k service in December, then little use for 6 weeks, then a good 450 mile North Wales thrashing over a weekend after which there was a hint of sludge but not much at all. Dealer's oil could have come from a 250 litre drum which had some condensation in it..

Had this a bit in my B6 S4 Avant as well a few years ago, so not concerned.

I wiped the filler cap and checked it again the next week after 100 miles or so and no more sludge...

Nothing like that on my pristine example...
