Adrian Flux quoted me £900 last night, Liverpool Victoria wanted £1300 for renewal - ended up going with Allianz for £676 (2006 RS4 Avant, 11 years NCB, 50 years old, SDP + commuting, 15000 miles).

Insurance is different for everyone, but for me:

Admiral renewal came in at £750. Yeah right. Internet quote for the same £620, so they agreed to match that. Other Admiral group insurers much the same.

No other internet/direct insurers could come close.

Most of the "specialist", "modified", performance" insurers you see in the magazine ads were way off the mark. Adrian Flux included.

Grrenlight were about £650 but that as limited 6K miles.

Noel Dazely could do £558 not limited mileage, mods like for like.

In the end, went with A-Plan, £490. 28yrs, 10+ yrs driving, 8k miles (not limited), went with 8K as some price as saying 6K miles. 8 yrs protected ncd, Business class 1, legal cover, mods covered like for like (remap and Porsche brakes). Car MUST be garaged.

A-Plan on 01635 874 646, office in Thatcham, Berks but this is the office that deals with modified cars.

I've also just renewed through A-Plan (speak to Rich on the number above), £698 with all mods declared, 15k miles including business use. Renewal was £880, Noel Dazely and Greenlight were much the same, and I even had a couple of quotes around the £1500 mark. I'm 34 with SP50, (28 day ban) and one small claim....

Wonder what I am doing wrong then! They quoted me £1200 + another £400 if I want protected NCB + £400 XS.

32 Years old
5 Years NCB
Full License 10 years +
1x SP30 last year
8000 miles
B5 S4 Avant
Mods - Miltek exhaust, short shift kit

Gone with Greenlight who quoted me £557 and was the same with protected NCB too. Additionally with the mods I intend to do in the next couple of weeks (MRC remap and 18" Wheels) is only going to put it up £40.
Very happy with that.

Just had A-plan on the phone too regarding my quotation request from them.
As above but £580 with £600 excess. Not bad but Greenlight win.

Try firebond

firebond.co.uk, phonne them up and negotiate.

After having quotes at £3500 from M&S, £1500 from priviledge, £ £2000 from most of the other £988 from elephant (been with them for 6 years and thats the cheapest they would go down too, the reneway being £1050), Admiral £920. Firebond quoted me £780.

That includes any cosmetic mods, such as wheels and brakes, exhaust etc, and a 20% power hike. Those mods are covered as standard if you have them. £300 excess.

Not bad at all.

And yet again another big thumbs up for Greenlight.
Added my remap and the 18" s and it was a £25 charge for admin stuff only. No extra for the actual bits at all.

Just rang up to add the other half to my policy as a named driver (she is giving back her company car Monday).
£25 admin charge and that's that. So I asked about how much extra for putting some Porsche brakes on the car (my plan to do them at the end of the month pending my bonus payments from work), NOTHING! Just put them on now with the change in policy and its covered under the £25 admin charge!
Sweet!
. S4 Nogaro Blue Avant . ECS IV . RS4 handling bits . 18" Ultraleggera . AWE Boost Gauge . MRC Custom Map . 315 BHP . 482 Nm .
