They all sound so helpful! I purchased a RS4 from an Audi dealership in Derby, first he tried to tell me the price was £3k more that the Audi website....politely he was tole where to go...he then scuttled back from the managers office to confirm they would accept the original price is had... Then on the test drive I heard a noise coming from the suspension (this was after I asked for any history/ problems with the suspension). On collecting the car later that week, I was told the mechanic looked at the car and found it was a spare oil container rolling around in the boot that was making the noise! Low and behold the noise came back on the way home...Car taken to Audi Reading - DRC issue - bushes replaced. Vote with your feet i say..

Reading Audi - excellent service

I can concur re Derby. Total joke. When I put in a serious offer for my RS4 he waddled off into the managers office (salesmen never seem to have the authority to say yes or no on the spot) and then came back and said the dealer principle admired my 'cheek' for putting on offer in. Who the f*** do they think they're talking to? Sales and service are awful in my opinion.

Hadwins Audi (now Lake District Audi) - dishonest and incompetent, but a great area for a test drive - just don't buy from or have your car serviced by them.

Colebrook and Burgess (Teeside, Wearside, Tyneside and Newcastle Audi) - Epitomise the modern Audi image - I have had experience of all of these centres over the years and have experienced greed, aggression, incompetence, rudeness and, to be fair, one pleasant and cooperative salesman.

Took my wife's car into Aberdeen Audi to get serviced yesterday. Sure enough a little while later got the call regarding additonal work required, front c-links on warranty, rear brake pads 70% worn and new wipers front and back. Told them to leave the brake pads and wipers.

The front wipers were brand new and hadn't even been on the car for 24 hours!!!!!!! To diagnose something as needing replaced without inspecting it
Chancing B*******!!! :audibash:

When I went to collect the car they made some excuse about them juddering and smearing. Then i was asked where I had bought them, obviously so they could try the substandard not superior audi OEM tack. When i told then it was their own TPS (Trade Parts Services) they shut up.

AVOID Camberley Audi: THE WORST service I've ever come across.

Scenario:
- Phoned the service department 7 days prior to the booking to query parts+labour cost for front disc+pads replacement. Provided VIN and registration.
- Arrived the morning of the booking 1/2 early to ensure everything was ok. Got the rep to check the VIN against the parts database to ensure the disc+pads matched the car.
- After 45mins of checking/rechecking and making phone calls, the rep advises they don't have the parts in stock.
- Was advised that the parts that were quoted were for a A4 even though the registration and VIN were provded on the phone.
- Advised that the correct B5 RS4 parts were available but at a 50% premium than quoted on the phone.
- Asked to speak to the manager but he was not available. Even though the manager was clearly visible doing nothing at his desk.
- Later that afternoon I sent an email to the service department relaying my experience from earlier than morning. No reply.

Lesson Learned:

Go to a specialist who know's these cars and the enthusiastic owners who lovingly care for them. I can personally vouch that Doug (MRC) and Grizz (Unit 20) are very good to deal with and know these motors inside and out more than any Audi Dealership could ever hope.

To be fair, I had heard many good things about Camberley Audi, although it has been in relation to the B7 RS4 (I know you have the B7 brakes).

Sometimes, and I am not defending them, dealerships do not like dealing with the older models and the experience you suffer reflects that. However, that does not excuse their attitude to you and a manager should have got involved.

If I owned a B5 RS4, I would take it to a specialist as you suggest. I had the same experience with an E30 M3 I owned. After the car was 6 years old, BMW dealerships were not so keen to fix them maybe because of the tooling required, expertise, profit or whatever. The Indies did well out of that.

Thought I would bump this name and shame thread due my recent dealer experiences.

Taunton Audi's service department is awful and have made some errors with very real safety implications.

In a nut shell.

Supplied me with an approved used car with 94 load index tyres instead of 98 XL. The result of this is a tyre that was shredded through to the canvas in just 1500 miles; that lead me to discover that the tyre info label in the fuel flap had been tampered with and the spare alloy wheel was damaged quite badly.

I then went on to find that the multipoint check that says all of the above was correct was in fact carried out 1000 miles prior to my purchase.

When i agreed a resolution over the above and they carried out the agreed works they noticed that the O/S CV boot was split and that this would be covered under warranty which surprised me as my warranty says CV boots aren’t covered.

When they carried out this repair they returned the car to me with 3 loose wheel nuts and to top it off one of the tyres they fitted is loosing pressure around the rim.

All in all a bunch of idiots that cant complete the most basic of tasks.

I guess I should add that Taunton Audi’s view is that the spare was not damaged at point of sale; they question the tyres being the ones on the car at point of sale and apparently not tightening my wheel nuts up is impossible as they have “checks in place”.

So.... ANY good ones?

In my old days on this forum, Camberly were the only ones that ever seemed to gain any praise. That doesn't seem to have changed really.

Oh, apart from the fact that they're not overly praised.

Independents are clearly the best, but the decision is always when to lose the Main dealer stamp....?
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Ive just been suitably impressed by Newbury Audi.... to be honest there were pretty crap a few years back when I took my B7 in for some work but Ive just had quite a lot of work done on my C5 yesterday/today. I had to take it there initially as my alternator had gone and it was the nearest I could get to without breaking down.. They rustled up a loan car ( free) at v short notice when there were none availble. It was an sline A3 170 ps sport which I had for 2 days and I must say was also quite an impressive little runner ! :) I can only imagine how good the RS3 is!! Im a test driving next week I think!

The service guy gave me a total price and openly said we could negotiate. I total him what I would pay based on my limited knowledge of parts etc. For example I knew an alternator was £600 odd quid. We agreed without fuss. He cut the labour times in half and worked to my budget exactly which I was impressed with. I saved over £500 from the originial cost which whether or not I still over paid, I was impressed with their attitude.

The following work done included the following:

New vented front discs and pads and change of brake fluid
New alternator
Replace bushes on drop links
Oil change and service incluiding seals and filters plus a healthcheck whilst front bumper off, inspection of intercoolers etc
Replace faulty crank shaft sensor

The car had been hoovered but not cleaned at my request as I had done it two days prior.

I was impressed and although there is still a slight niggle in there I need to sort I will be back!! I suggest there are good deals to be had out there with dealers at the moment they seem to open to negotiation within reason. Dont get me wrong I rate MRC and Unit 21 highly but when you come to sell a car or trade it or need a warranty etc you cant beat Audi history regardless of what people say. So Im going to use both this and Camberly as my dealer haunts and then the specialist boys if I need any mods doing in the future.
