I'm going to be looking at mine pre-delivery tonight so will ask about which disk it has. Roll on Tuesday whatever.

One of the Audi tech's on Tyresmoke.net has just posted the following:

Latest From Audi :-

Vehicles built from week 50 2006 and equipped with DVD Satellite Navigation will have the latest
2007 TMC enabled disc installed at the factory. The following programme will allow you to fit this
disc for existing A3 and A4 customers at subsidised cost.

Costs :
There is no standard labour time for the cost of this operation. Any labour costs incurred in the
fitment of the disc cannot be recovered and will need to be paid for by the Centre.
The disc is purchased through parts in the normal way. The relevant part no. is 8PO 060 884 M.
The Centre cost of the disc should be reclaimed through the warranty system.
The programme will run from 22 January 2007 to 30 June 2007 by which time fitments to cars
should have been carried out.

Retail price :
The 2007 disc with the latest digitalised road maps and TMC, and a vehicle lifetime subscription to
TrafficMaster TMC will be Free of Charge for all A3, A3 Sportback, S3, A4, RS 4 and S4 customers.
This applies to all discs fitted prior to 30 June 2007.
The recommended retail price of the DVD Satellite Navigation discs after the programme ends on
30 June 2007 will return to the current price of £210.00 including VAT.
Audi UK will be communicating directly with all A3 and A4 customers who have DVD Satellite
Navigation fitted to make them aware of this offer in the same way that we contacted A6 and A8
eligible customers at the end of October.

PS. Dealers can't do anything till Jan (inc ordering the disk).
Cheers,
Daz :D

Which is not bad really. The old RNS-D CD's from www.navshop.com are £170 and that only covers the UK.

Doing such a comparison then maybe the discs appear good value, but when compared to a stand alone unit such as a TomTom or Navman which include speed camera data, 8 digit postcode search etc then it looks distinctly pricey.

I like the RNS-E set up but feel that Audi should relax the disc update pricing as they will have made substantial profits when the RNS-E option was ordered with the car.

The bad news is that if you read the statement from Audi carefully it looks like the offer only applies to factory fitted RNS-Es, not retrofitted ones.

Well, looking on the bright side, even if you fork out £210 for the discs, you'll still be paying way less in total than anyone who ordered an RNS-E from the factory :)

Picked up my car today. When I asked about TMC he very quickly pointed out that the new disk will be available from the 22nd and that it would be fitted FOC. Now I wish i was not stuck at work while my car waits patiently for me to rag it silly.

Over on TSN someone has just quoted Newcastle Audi as saying that they have checked and the 2007 DVD will be FREE for all cars still in the 3 year warranty period, whether the RNS-E is factory fit or retrofit.

If that's correct then only people who have a car more than 3 years old will have to pay the £210 for the DVD.

RNS-E is the name of the head unit that you get with the tech pack, so that is what you have I guess

RNS-E = Radio Navigation System - E version.

In layman's speak that's the DVD satellite navigation system that is part of the Technology Pack, or a separate option, on the B7 RS4.

Having found the 2007 DVD waiting for me when I got home yesterday, I've just installed the new software (version 0550) and sure enough the TMC logo is no longer crossed out and traffic reports are appearing on the INFO page (and the RS4 startup screen is still there).

The maps are a newer version M1N061018_EN0603.
