Just to add my 2 cents worth ... i just got a fresh set of Dunlop Sport 9000's on my 18" B5 RS4 reps .. not a bad word to say about them, way better than the pirelli P-zero rosso's that were on, comparitively cheap too ... they'd be my reccomendation, top notch :)

The 712s have a similar tread pattern to the Eagle F1s, allbeit with a central groove.

Just checked prices and the KU31's are the more expensive tyre. I thinkabout £80 quid as oposed to £52 for the 712's.

I wonder if the 712's are as grippy as the Eagle F1's

Thats RS4 600 brake had toyo T1 proxes on them. Not sure if they were T1 R or T1 s, not sure what the difference is either (both sound pretty similar on the toyo webiste with similar pattern too). They look very similar to the Eagle F1's pattern indeed. How they compare to the Kumhos I dont know. I hear that they are good but have wear issues.

I found the T1-R to be much better in the wet and it also runs quieter than the T1-S.

Sorry saf, as per my post on page one I didn't do much mileage due to not keeping my cars for much longer than six months.

If you're querying which one of the two Kumho's to go for I'd strongly recommend the KU31's, very good tyre for the money imho.

You could always try buying bulk (say 6 or so) from MyTyres, they do a discount for more tyres purchased in one order plus they offer a loyalty discount the more often you buy.

Sounds good.

Im thinking of the Toyo proxes but ive just read three reviews saying that they dont last too long. 6000 miles ont he front doesnt sound too economical too me.

I think I may try the Kumhos. Any other Toyo uses care to comment on their tyre wear at the front and rear please?

There's also the Kumho MX KU15 performance tyre which looks rather nice...

Which tyres do you have nickb834?

Theres several types, theres the 712, amongst others. Trying to see which is the best one. I may give them a try.
I had a quick shufty whilst filling up with juice tonight (far too regular occurance :-) ) It seems I have Ecsta's on - not sure of the actual model number.

Like DavidT says though, you can find some really good deals on tyres off fleabay.

Just gotta find a fitter who isn't gonna charge silly prices for fitment.

How much do you guys usually get charged for fitting.

In East London we get all four tyres balanced and fitted for £20

Or even for £10 some places.

Im warming to the Toyos after reading some more reviews, but as I said worried about the wear, so if any Toyo uses see this, please comment on wear. i need to buy a set of tyres soon.

If its not the Toyos I will try the Kumho KU31. Ive been told theyre the upgrade to the 712 and improved in many aspects on what was already a good budget tyre.

A lot of review sites state the Toyos are nearly as good as the top brand names. So worth a try me thinks.

thanks nick. Ive filled up twice this week already.

The guy who had my first S4 before me used to get 16mpg around East London, I get 24mpg thru Yorkshire.......it's reet grand up 'ere :-)

So for me it's 60 quids worth every 4 days

Petrol is still 92.9 a frigging litre though :-(

Im in East London and I get about 16 if Im no A roads. Otherwise local is a nightmare at about 13 mpg. 150 - 170 a tank.

And Tesco 99 here is around 95.9 p a litre.

Youre lucky, you have those nice quiet twisties up in pudding country.

I use Kumhos on my VW Scirocco track-car and have been very impressed with them so far. Good grip in both wet and dry and haven't lost too much rubber during hard driving! Would definitely buy again. I run Toyos on my S4, which have also been fantastic for the price.
