My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Refuse to deal with him. Organ grinder only. One "delegation" is fine if it results in a result. 2 is not on.
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
PS remain 100% calm and polite. The salesman's only doing what he's told.
Just advise them you'll be involving Audi UK and your solicitors if the dealer principal does not phone you back by the end of the week (but be prepared to carry that through).

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
well at least they are calling you - trust me, thats considered a success with some marques
Play the game for now. Be nice and courteous and send over the report.
Wouldn't hurt to ask for the 145 point checklist as it seems to be missing from your documentation... A valid and reasonable request but also has the effect of putting the ball in their court without causing a confrontation.
I wouldn't mention solicitors now as things could get "all legal". For example, the last thing you want is all comms going via solictors.
No need the threaten with Audi UK yet or issue ultimatums - you do have some very strong points but lets not be unrealistic in believing that your case is 100% bullet proof.
Why rock the boat when you don't have to at the moment.
As above - the saleman has no authority and is simply a teflon suit for the general manager. No manager likes dealing with complaints so common to have a front fall guy to start with. As soon as things get expensive or complicated you'll get through.
Also - you need to decide what it is that you are willing to accept and what you are willing to compromise on.
Do you want the car repaired properly?
Do you want full refund (don't think this will be easy or a walk in the park even considering other posts - every case is unique)?
Do you want a different car of the same model?
Would you "upgrade" to a different car with a healthy discount from the dealer?
Would you accept things like free servicing?
Everybody is different so it's easy for some to say one thing and others to say another. You need to decide what works best for you and plan options and stragegy accordingly.

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
sent them an email with reports from Cheshire Oak as requested and fire off a 3 page letter saying how unhappy I am with my treatment and gave them one more chance to sort it out in house b4 I go to Audi UK customer services
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Between me and my wife we have owned 8 Audi's since 2007. The main reason we no longer have one (her A1 went last week) is mainly down to the useless dealers.Hope you get it sorted soon.
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Audi UK were totally toothless with my complaint so I would personally be gearing up for a legal fight.
The exact words were "as its a used car there's not much we can do"
I think my stace would be that it's company policy to have the multi point check carried out and if this had been done they would be aware of the issues. This means they either knowingly sold you a damaged car or that they didn't comply with policy's that they claim are applied to all used cars.
Either way I would think a judge would find in your favour in this case if it came to that.

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Can we get one thing absolutely clear - it's is not illegal to sell a 'damaged' or a badly repaired car. There is no need for the seller to disclose anything about the car. As long as the car is roadworthy then it is down to the buyer to check things.
The key point is that the cruise control doesn't work and this is down to the bad repair. This is also easy to check during any road test so the argument is there that the buyer didn't sufficiently examine the goods before purchase.
The *only* saving grave is that you have bought the car from a dealer and there are more options.
The defect should have been found on the check.
A judge could go either way in this and it's not a helpful comment as could end up leaving the buyer out of pocket.
By all means stick to your guns but you are going to have to be aware that the situation isn't clear cut.

I absolutely concur with Ad
I know plenty of weeks old expensive Audi's having significant damage which are repaired and eventually find a new home.
Used car is a used car. Deal with it, or buy new.

Don't be a pussy.
Go to the dealer and bust his bollox until it gets resolved.
You'll end up compromising if you use the softly softly approach.

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
Sorry to sound negative to previous comments but the car is broke, it was not sold as such and damage didn't happen after the sale. As a retailer for over 20 years many of which were with main dealers I can't see them not taking responsibility. Imagine if you had an accident due to the radar failing! Maybe point that out to them. Also point out the pdi was not done, or was done by incompetent techs and ask them which they'd prefer you to mention to Audi UK or other authority's?
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
It is company policy to apply the 145 point check to all used cars, if we agree that this check would have revealed the damage then you have a case.

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
I cant believe this is not resolved,if the 145 point check has not been done been done then they have not followed audis requirements as an approved audi and the car is clearly sub standard .You need to take this straight to the top of audi uk customer service as it looks like you are being messed around.squidgey wrote:Just agree to have the car inspected by RAC and an Audi engineer so just a waiting game now....still no sign of that 145 point check list, does that mean it not an approve audi ???
Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
It's not as clear cut as that.
One potential issue is that the dealer could go down the line that the car was damaged and repaired in the time between purchase and reporting the fault.
If this were true then the dealer wouldn't have any obligations to fix the car.
Long shot but I assume the worst in all cases.
The best option I see is to direct the RAC and the Audi engineer to give in their opinion could the repair have been done prior to purchasing the car and should the fault with the cruise control have been picked up in the 145 point test. It wouldn't hurt to talk to audi Customer services and confirm the cruise control query.
Definitely worth pushing for the 145 point check but that may not be helpful. what you need to do is try to ascertain more about the repair and who/when it was done.

Re: My RS5.... Dealer sold me a damaged car !!!
They have actual said that the car had been in an accident and it was repaired by an approve Audi repairer...and some of the repair still have Sticker on it showing repair done in 2012.i don't have a problem if the car was repair to Audi standard but it hasn't and if I wanted to take a chance I would save 5k and bought one private and had it inspected independently. That sole reason why I buy from a dealer.
