RS6 Gearbox dropping into neutral

Post by mudplugger » Tue Oct 04, 2016 7:23 pm

My 13 year old RS 6 has done 190,000 miles, and I have driven 175,000 of them so know this car well. Had the gearbox, turbos and engine reconditioned at 150,000 but recently if I have to do an emergency or sudden stop the gearbox drops into neutral. The lever is still in drive and you either wit until the car sorts itself out and re-enganges or shift the lever to neutral and then back into drive. There are no fault codes coming up and the fluid levels are right. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it or does this mean a new box?

My garage didd the check so i do not know. They did the engine recon and farmed the gearbox out. I will ask them tomorrow. They do use this but they have a more up top date system which is Audi approved. The car is going in tomorrow so they can take a sample of the fluid.
