RS7 new owner / dealer problems

Post by Stitcher » Mon Feb 22, 2016 11:53 am

First post guys so be gentle !!
Its a bit of a long winded one this but stick with me , any advice appreciated .
Purchased a used RS7 from Glasgow Audi last month , everything seemed great with the car on leaving Glasgow for the drive up to Aberdeenshire but within a couple of hours I noticed a grinding noise from the back brakes and very slight vibration from the front brakes . On reaching home I contacted Glasgow Audi who arranged for my car to be booked into Aberdeen Audi for repairs , advice I was given was that Glasgow would pay for anything not covered under warranty , great response I thought .
The car was booked for the following week and all good until I went to collect the car . Aberdeen had carried out a full health check on the car and I was given 3 amber advisories on report
1. Front Brakes - slight vibration noted , Brake Rotors heavily lipped will require new Disks and Pads
2. Rear Brakes - Brakes stripped and rebuilt , grinding noise no longer apparent but Rear Rotors heavily lipped , will require new Discs and Pads
3. Rear tyre 3mm , will require future replacement .
I got in touch with Glasgow who to cut a long story short have washed their hands of it , quoting that its not a performance of safety related issue so would take no action . Regarding the tyre they have said that the tyre measure 4mm on leaving Glasgow so I must have used 1mm of tread in the 300 miles I had driven since collection .
Unhappy with response I've raised the issue with Audi Uk , after investigation Audi Glasgow have told Audi Uk they are offering no assistance in the matter . Audi Uk have now assigned to case manager but no feedback as yet . I've also now raised a complaint with Lookers head office who own Glasgow Audi , said they would investigate but heard nothing now for 10 days.

So here lies the question , have I done as much as I can , is there any other course of action I should follow . Am I being unreasonable on a car that has covered 16,000 miles , my complaint is that the car had gone through a supposed 145 point check by an Audi Tech and I get 3 advisories 7 days after collecting a new car . Its totally ruined the new car experience , I've bought 11 new Audis in 6 years , mostly from Aberdeen Audi who have always been great . In light of the above I wouldn't by a touch up stick off Glasgow Audi !

Don't Audi offer a 30 day exchange on approved used cars?

it all depends on what the Audi UK standards are on brakes wear

I know competitor programmes have minimum wear levels on approved used ...

Yes , I could have activated the 30 day return but the car has a great spec and apart from the brake issue I'm happy with it. In addition to this I accepted a low trade in price for my RS5 as the RS7 price was low also . If I take the 30day return I get back the price I paid and I'd struggle to find an RS7 with the same spec for the price.

I've now found 5 cases on Audizine.com where owners have had Rotors and Pads replaced by Audi free of charge due to premature wear ranging from 12 - 20K.

Sounds like its probably just best to cut your losses, tell them come and collect it and refund you and buy another one elsewhere
