Not often a main dealer gets the thumbs up...

Post by marc1 » Tue Nov 11, 2014 9:39 pm

My car has spent most of it's life at York Audi as two previous forum member owners took it there. As I knew just how well the original forum owner (Klauster) had pampered the car and taken his following car to them I thought I'd be in fairly safe hands. That in addition to the fact it was a different group to my local dealer gave me a level of confidence.

Firstly York Audi offered me a great price on a service including spark plugs (£489 incl VAT).

When I dropped the car off and took the courtesy car, they had put me in a petrol A4 TFSI quattro as they thought I would prefer it to their usual FWD diesels, and they were right. Whilst it's obviously not a high revving N/A V8, it gripped well and mated to the S-Tronic gearbox it had enough go for the daily duties. The car was also pretty well specced with B&O, nav, Bluetooth phone and music streaming, etc. 3k miles on the clock and black edition S Line trim. Nice, comfortable car, so happy with that.

I asked them to fit my supplied replacement expansion tank whilst it was there and look at the squeaky drivers door window. The expansion tank was replaced and coolant bleed and replaced. £20 incl VAT charged. Again, another £20 incl VAT to strip, clean and grease the window runner. Pretty much back street garage prices there really.

Had the car MOT'd including their warranty, however the car failed on a rear tyre with a cut in it (pleased I had it MOT'd as didn't know about it). We started to discuss tyres... The car didn't have a matching set which bugged me and this was the perfect excuse to rectify. They confirmed they would price match 'within reason' and suggested Pirelli. Erm, no, not keen on Pirelli's having had them and many other brands on my old B5 RS4. Told them I was fairly sure I'd seen Michelin Pilot Super Sports for circa £600 which are my preferred tyre of choice, having had them on a previous M3 along with the former standard 'PS2's'. He told me they were £220 each at cost to them, but send him the details. He called me back after checking with the managers and said, sir we'll have to get them ordered for you. It will be £643 fitted incl VAT for the four.

Happy days :biggrin3:

All in all a great service, great prices and friendly and helpful staff, more than happy with that. Was almost a pleasure paying the bill!

Big thanks to RossDagley in here for the heads up on TyreLeader's PSS prices.

Klauster recommended them to me too when I got my RS4 a couple of years ago and they've been v. good so far. Replaced a leaking strut without any quibble just after I got the car, have just replaced both front wings under warranty with only a modest contribution from me, lent me an A3 for the week when my car was in the bodyshop and offered a half hour option to check out the throttle sensor issue I've had (rather than just cracking on and spending hours trying to trace it with the resultant bill).

Oh, and their whizzy new showroom is a nice place to sit and drink good coffee and scoff biscuits whilst you're waiting :D
