RS6 C5 New Owner just gone into Limp Home Mode!

Hi All, firstly great forum - have been having a read through previous posts but can't find anything specific to the issue that has just developed with my recently aquired RS6. Hopefully someone might have some experience or advice on the matter.

Have had the rs6 for a couple of weeks and it's been running superbly well, a serioulsy quick and addictive bit of kit. Some background on the car ;It has been remapped to over 500 bhp, has had both the turbos and intercoolers replaced within the last 15k miles and has a full service history. It also a miltek exhaust fitted with race cats.

So had a great drive the other day and let it cool down after the run for 10 mins before turning off etc. Then when I went to lock the car it wouldn't communicate with the key fob (i'm sure this is entirely unrelated but thought I would mention it just in case!), so left unlocked and then returned to lock later where it locked first time off the remote.

The next morning drove the car a short journey and noticed it wasn't performing, both turbos not cutting in and engine seemed down on power even for natural aspiration. I nursed it to my lock vw specialist, who advised it was in limp home mode. They ran a scan and it came back with a lots of codes relating to the exhaust/cats which assum is probably just a by-product of the aftermarket exhaust and cats?

One code for a speed sensor which was a known intermittent fault which would sometimes put the abs and traction control light on the dash.

So left car with the vw specialist (who have limited expericence of working with rs6) and they phoned to advise that "the right bank of the engine is not drawing in any air" apparently they have ruled out the MAF by disconnecting and taking readings.

They suggested it might be a blockage in the inlet manifold , does this sound plausible as this is apparently a big job to remove and check. The mechanic wondered if these vehicles had any bmw style "swirl flaps" fitted which might have dislodged to cause the issue?

Does anyone know of any other issue which might cause the symptom of no airflow on one side of the engine (right).

I am obviously going to need to get the car to a specialist but in the mean time if anyone can suggest some basic checks i might get the garage to perform this would be great!! I was hoping it might have been a diconnected turbo pipe or similar!

That's your problem right there, you've let a VW guy who's too busy thinking about BMWs, loose on your RS6, and no, there are no flaps. Get it to a specialist, stat. MRC, Unit20, AmD, QsT or Camberley Audi. If your off-side turbo has popped you'll make no boost as the near-side boost will just escape via the failed off-side. The circuit requires both sides to make boost. Make sense?

FON haha I just read up on that, strange rule but i'm going to run with it!!!

I'm hoping it's not a turbo as had both replaced under 15k ago, also would you expect some scary noises/smoke before a turbo failed?? Put the car to the VW guy to start with as he was the nearest to my location at the time. But I take your point entirely. Have to put it into a proper specialist.

stupid question but i'm not very technical as you may have gathered already but is there anything else that could potentially cause such issues?

forgot to ask - do you think it would do any further damage if I drove the car (sensibly) to my nearest specialist?
